  how to dismiss notifications
Posted by: philusa - 05-06-2021, 07:01 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PineTime - Replies (3)

Just received my PineTime yesterday and am having lots of fun showing the people who work for me, my $25 dollar watch compared to their $700 apple watch.  Their expressions are priceless.  Big Grin

One thing I have not figured out is how do dismiss/delete notifications.  I thought I saw a post yesterday about it, but could not re-locate it.

All help is appreciated.

Phil

PS  Has anybody "tied" their PineTime to PinePhone running Mobian?  I currently am attached to my android phone, but would love to get it going on my PinePhone.  I have not had a lot of time to play with that yet.

Brick Masking Agent....Patent
Posted by: KABA - 05-06-2021, 10:09 AM - Forum: PinePhone Software - Replies (7)

Thinking on the difficulties regarding providers I was wondering if a masking agent similar to whats available for browsers was possible,

I had a tough time with the terminology to even get any results, call masking kept coming up, but what I found sure didn't surprise me

an IBM patent

I didn't comb through it but on the surface....

alarms do not seem to work
Posted by: motox6 - 05-06-2021, 12:04 AM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - Replies (2)

When I set an alarm and my phone is otherwise asleep, it seems to wait until I wake it up to sound the alarm.

Say I set the alarm for 7:30am.  At 8:00am it will be sitting their silent.  When I wake it via the power button on the side it will start "alarming".

I take it that is not the intended behavior?

  Camera clicking sound
Posted by: unsatisfactory212 - 05-05-2021, 10:59 PM - Forum: PinePhone Hardware - Replies (2)

So i got my pinephone on the 3 of april and i have come to realise that the rear camera on my phone makes an audible click (does not sound like its coming from the speaker) whenever i open the Megapixels camera app and i was just wondering if this is normal or if i should create a support ticket with the pinephone customer support team.

Thanks in advance for any help and sorry if this is a stupid question : )

Unable to turn off auto brightness at times
Posted by: motox6 - 05-05-2021, 07:56 PM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - No Replies

I am sometimes unable to turn off auto-brightness for the display.

And while this in itself would not be a problem, it tends to decide on its own to turn the brightness all the way down making the display difficult to read in bright light.

This usually happens when I am at an extreme in brightness.  For example, out in the sun.

I use the tap-down at the top of the display and set the brightness back to something reasonable and over a few minutes it pulls the brightness back down to minimum.  The behavior is repeatable.

Over in Settings when I try to disable auto brightness the button slides over to the left but does not turn grey.  It stays blue.  And I can see the brightness setting bouncing around.

Next if I go inside where the ambient like is not shall we say extreme, the auto-brightness button can be turned off.

I am wondering if the button has trouble working right when the brightness it is reading from the sensor is at an extreme end of its scale?

Good calculator on the Linux Phone? And general lack of mobile responsive apps
Posted by: programmin - 05-05-2021, 07:09 PM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

Greetings all,

I have been trying out the Linux phone I got recently (Librem 5) and noticed that generally apps are not so ready for the small screen...

I wonder if others using other Linux os's on Pinephone have noticed a similar problem or have any good workarounds?

As an example, there are several good Android calculators (Arity, open source on FDroid is my go to)
but on mobile Linux the most awesome calculators are bloaty or cut off on the small screen and don't work so well...
In fact I went through the options and listed out some of the problems - and linked bug reports, here:

  Change locking of Ctrl modifier?
Posted by: vandys - 05-05-2021, 06:01 PM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - Replies (1)

I'm really used to the Ctrl modifier only applying to the single keystroke which follows it.  Instead, Ctrl behaves like a caps lock, staying applied until you click it again.  I'm sure that's great for some, but not me.

I've had a swing through the Squeekboard documentation, and but I really don't see anything in the config file to control this.  Has anybody addressed it?  TIA.

Unable to configure mmc2 on pinecube in 4 bit SDIO mode
Posted by: doode - 05-05-2021, 04:50 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PineCube - Replies (1)

Attempting to enable the third mmc port in 4 bit mode with little progress.  I enabled it via dts & disabled the spi0 port which shares the same pins. The system comes up, sees the peripheral.. but thats about as far as I can get.

I pulled off the RTK8189ES module and soldered my peripheral in its place and it works fine.

Some details...
