Steps to install Ubuntu
I am using a Windows Desktop, so the steps covered here will show that.
 
Pre-Install setup

1. Download the latest image from longsleeps folder (https://www.stdin.xyz/downloads/people/l...es/ubuntu/)
   
2. Download Win32Imager (https://sourceforge.net/projects/win32di...t/download)
   
3. Have some kind of extraction capabilities (May i suggest 7zip - http://www.7-zip.org)
   
4. Have a Micro SD card (and adapter to enable it to plug into a USB port) ready, at least 8GB (Class 10 if you can)
   
5. Have a decent power supply (at least 2a) and shorter cables are better.
   

1. Extract the image, and Install the Win32Imager somewhere (preferably the same folder!)
   
2. Open Win32imager and write the image to the SD card (ensure you have the SD card selected!)
   
3. Once the write has completed, MAKE SURE you safely remove the USB drive from the PC – not doing so may harm the write process.
   
4. Remove the SD card and put in the Pine64. Ensure you only have the REQUIRED peripherals connected, Keyboard, HDMI, and I would say LAN too, THEN connect the power.
   
5. Let the Pine64 boot. When completed, use username: ubuntu and password: ubuntu to login; it’s also worth mentioning that once you see the login screen, you CAN ssh into the pine64 also, if you so prefer.
   
6. Once logged in, run the following:  /usr/local/sbin/resize_rootfs.sh
   this will resize the / partition to fill the SD card.
   
7. Profit!

Hi guys, 

KS backer here, my 2GB board arrived on Saturday and I've been playing with it (as time allows!) since. 

Muchos thanks to longsleep for his tireless work on the ubuntu build, it works great and I've had a lot of fun with it alongside my pi2 (i dont have a pi3 yet) 

So far I'm really happy with it. I have seen some people complaining about various things and being quite impatient. 
I was also an early adopter for the original pi (so i have seen this complaining before) 

The community takes take to build up, but it seems we have some VERY helpful people here, and I'm very much thankful for them.

I have got Minecraft (Spigot) running on my pine, so far tested with 2 people and it runs beautifully!

If anyone would like a howto, or maybe a video of how to set something up, please ask and I'll try to oblige.

Is there a good reference for Pine64 Kernel builds. I've just read that you need to recompile the kernel with some setting tweaks to get a HDMI to DVI adaptor working

I've not a complete novice as I've developed on unix with C/C++ before and I build many Linux packages from source, but would not really consider myself a intermediate/advanced user.

The wireless keyboard I use is not recognized in ArchLinux. The Android image sees it just fine.

The NOOBS image of the RPi also had trouble with it.

Is there a formal place to submit bugs?

So I have an HP L2335 1920x1200 monitor with DVI, and used a DVI to HDMI cable. A Raspberry Pi works fine with it, but the Pine A64 will not. The screen pops in and out of power save mode.

I switched it to an old Coby TFTV4026 40" LCD TV monitor which provides known-bad EDID information, and it did very well with the Android image booting, but it overscans due to the bad EDID information.

Questions:

Does anyone want to help me debug why the L2335 fails?  Should I report a bug? What do you need to know?

Can you adjust the overscan region and resolution of the Android image?

I was looking around for accessories for the Pine 64 and I was hoping to get some cheap accessories. Does anyone know if Raspberry Pi and Arduino accessories are compatible comparable with Pine 64(+)

Just noticed the 'old' thread about Debian with images and infos is all gone? What happend?

Did the company come up with a solution to cancel/change orders for this?

I was backer number 44, and still nothing because of the screw ups with this case.
