Lightbulb Server for filesharing to computer?
Posted by: LordCanti - 03-01-2016, 10:37 PM - Forum: Pine A64 Projects, Ideas and Tutorials - Replies (3)

So I want to make a low power server for my pc and phone. All I want to be able to do is create a cloud like thing with a graphic UI, but I don't know where to start. VNC is not what I'm looking for though, it only controls, and doesn't allow you to download from what I see.

Any help would be appreciated. Big Grin

  Low power headless operation?
Posted by: rubenk - 03-01-2016, 01:57 PM - Forum: POT modules - Replies (9)

We are currently using a very expensive but low-power arm sbc  for long term field monitoring and control (embedded hardware). Has anybody looked into how low the power could go if we turned off power to the accessories that wouldn't be needed like HDMI video to audio in and out, SATA, camera, things like that?  I think we could even get by with running on a single core.  This is probably far outside of the intended audience of the board but that is our application and I thought I would ask.

One thing that is a definite kick in the nuz  is that there is no onboard eMMC.  I have plans to keep this in the field for months at a time even up to a year between service intervals.  I'd rather have one place to store the data and another place to boot the OS but such is life. There is an ODROID board that allows you to have onboard be MMC but  I don't know very much about it or about power consumption.

So, the final question: is it an ill-fated attempt to try to take the power out of the pine 64? If so, does anybody have any recommendations?

BTW power on our current board is about 0.5 Watts at idle

Is it possible to overclock the Pine64 by any chance?

Hey folks,

This is meant to give an idea of backers who have received their boards, so if you've got yours, post a reply with your batch and when you received it.

I'm a February early-bird backer and I'll update this post after mine arrives.

EDIT: Based on the latest update, looks like my board is going to be delayed because I added some accessories (Camera, RTC and WiFi/Bluetooth modules). That's disappointing. If this information was available earlier, I wouldn't had added any accessories to my pledge.

  Grove Hat

Hi

Are there any plans to provide a grove hat for grove sensors?

Lots of sensors providing lots of possibilities for the pine... ;-)

what if not purchased thru kickstarter?
Posted by: whttrsh - 02-29-2016, 11:58 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PINE A64(+) - Replies (5)

Hi there, just had a question ...  I didn't purchase through kickstarter or backerkit,  I went the old fashion way of hearing about it, coming to pine64.com and clicking buy now,  I got a an email to say that order had been placed, then another to confirm that my payment has cleared.  Thats the last one I got, I havnt received anything about filling out a survey to add on components and any info I can find on that process says I'm meant to do it through backerkit using my pledge etc..  Therein lies my problem...  I have no way to check on my order (except to login to celery and basically see a paper invoice) or add any components and was wondering if a way is even possible as when I bought it, it had no option to add extras  ?

It said expect delivery by may which is fine by me, I'm in no real rush, but id like to know my order still exists somewhere

cheers

  [Question] Migrating to Pine64.
Posted by: VectorJones - 02-29-2016, 08:39 PM - Forum: Getting Started - Replies (3)

Hello,

I have a few collection of SBC's and some are running the OLD Raspbian Wheezy. My question is simple, is it possible to migrate from one of the other boards to the Pine64 by simply moving the microSD card? Or is there another way? I need a little more kick for my servers, I think the pine64 is a safe bet.

Thank you.
