First time user really confused - need a how-to
Posted by: binkyd - 07-20-2020, 12:46 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (8)

Just got a BraveHeart.

Where can I find a tutorial or a how-to for this?

And what about Ubports?  I am unable for some reason to sign up there.

So can somebody point me to where I can learn about this phone?

Huh  Angry

  Alarm clock doesn’t work

I don’t know where else to post this, but the alarm clock function in the clock app does not work. I updated as recently as yesterday evening. Just putting this out there again, if there is a better place for trivial bug reports please direct me there. Thanks again for all the amazing work and rapid progress to this point.

  Failure to install gcc

Hi,

I am not that well versed in how the packaging works in Manjaro. But it feels rather feeble.

So far I am unable to install gcc as it requires another package which the system is unable to find.

To be honest it feels rather inmature.

Is there a soultion except installing a more mature distribution on the pinebook Pro?

Booting OS from SD card: consistency issue
Posted by: pivic - 07-20-2020, 08:55 AM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinebook Pro - Replies (8)

Hey there!

I've searched the forum profoundly and I apologise if I have missed any solution that's already out there.

I've used Etcher to flash operating systems to my SD card, and they do boot from my brand-new Pinebook Pro that's running a fairly untouched Manjaro OS.

I have my SD card inserted properly in my Pinebook Pro and it boots from the SD about 30% of the time. The behaviour is the same for after a complete shutdown and a restart. I've tried two different OSs so far, with the same result.

When I cold start the computer I've tried to hold the power button down just slightly until the power light comes on and then release it, to holding the power button down for a longer period of time. It doesn't matter which I try.

I've spotted this forum post that mentions upgrading/replacing uboot, but I'm far too much of a noob to understand whether that would work in my case or how to perform it.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you so much in advance.

  Dekko Mail no account configurable
Posted by: firefox-58 - 07-20-2020, 08:11 AM - Forum: UBPorts on PinePhone - Replies (3)

Hello,

If I start Dekko Mail it claims that there is no mail account configured YET and leads me to a dialog "Add now"

But I can click on this and there is no further action. I can rotate the screen and press with my finger whereever I want. No reaction further.

Dekko mail seems unusable ATM?

TIA

Uwe

UBPorts Edition - no boot screen
Posted by: danny_h69 - 07-20-2020, 05:35 AM - Forum: PinePhone Hardware - Replies (3)

Hi.

I'm sorry if this has been answered, but I couldn't find any threads relating to this.

I have the UB Ports edition with the pre-installed UT os.  It boots fine and starts as it should.

But, when I hold the volume up and power button together, it launches into an "Installing update" screen and just hangs.  I have left it like that for 24hrs...

I have tried to boot it with Mobian flashed onto an sd card, but Mobian will not boot.  Although I have seen that issue in other threads.

It also won't update from the repo.  I just get an error message saying the repo is read only?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Dan

According to the tracking information,  my PinePhone just arrived in my town and I am expecting delivery today.

This is a big deal for me as I am a firmware developer, but I have never been able to work on phone firmware.

It has been about two and a half months since I ordered the phone and it has been hard to be patient.

I will be working with the PinePhone in conjunction with my PineBookPro and my Pine64so ClusterBoard (7).

I am having a lot of fun with this hardware.

Be safe people. :-)

Question Can we create Boardviews for repair of PINE devices? (for OpenBoardView/FlexBV)
Posted by: PaulDaniels - 07-20-2020, 04:32 AM - Forum: Community and Events - Replies (2)

Hello all,

As with many laptops, phones and tablets, in order to effectively repair such devices these days we need both schematics *and* boardviews to be able to guide the repairing hand to the right parts on the board.

  Understandably PINE (company) would not want to release their full boardviews ( not asking that ) but it would be fantastic to have boardviews that provide at least;

Pins [part, location (x,y,side), and netname], and an outline of the board.   That's the bare minimum information that'd be needed and a boardview that is functional for repairers can be generated ( don't even need pad or part outlines, though those are nice visually ), testpads if applicable are good to have too.

Some of you already know of me from Louis Rossmann,  OpenBoardview, and of course FlexBV.

It would be fabulous to have a set of boardviews to go along with the schematics that have already been provided by PINE.

Regards,
Paul.

  Switching between Speakers and Headphones
Posted by: DrewTechs - 07-20-2020, 04:10 AM - Forum: UBPorts on PinePhone - Replies (9)

I have written a couple of simple scripts that can switch the speakers and headphones and thought I share it. Pretty straightforward though, but maybe it can be updated to be written in one script and can detect whether the auxiliary port is connected to an auxiliary cable or not.

headphones.sh

Code:
#!/bin/sh
amixer -c 0 set 'Headphone' unmute
amixer -c 0 set 'Line Out' mute

speakers.sh
Code:
#!/bin/sh
amixer -c 0 set 'Headphone' mute
amixer -c 0 set 'Line Out' unmute
