I have just reached Concept Proof state with AV streaming (calling) console client via Gstreamer with Matrix signaling. It works in both directions Pine to Pine and Pine to Element (web client). The SW better fit SXMO project philosophy. While streaming AV with other client on another PC it consumes on PP only around 35% of CPU.

Monitoring part is based on matrixcli. Unfortunatly, author still didn't reply to my patch. Until then my fork could be used https://git.sr.ht/~fedon/matrixcli. It provides chatting functionality as well. For placing and accepting calls https://git.sr.ht/~fedon/gst-matrix. Python3 is required. Gstreamer with plugins could be installed form standard (PostmarketOS) repositories. It seems gstreamer-1.16.2-r2 has all required fixes. For desktop you better compile from Git 1.17.2.
Unfortunately, there is a glitch in Gstreamer which cause random hang during the first second of streaming. Patience is needed

Hello, I apoligize if this was asked before, but I wanted to ask again since it is in reference to new hardware and software.

For the new Pinephone (Community Edition: PostmarketOS version)  will a standard keyboard work with a USB A to USB C converter? I just wanted to check before ordering the converter itself. I ordered the $150 version since it meets all my requirements otherwise. If not, it's no big deal and I'll get used to typing with onscreen keyboards.

I see there is a reset button by the battery pack on the inside of the phone.  Silly question, but will resetting the PPhone 64 wipe the OS?   I have the Ubuntu Touch on my UBPorts version.

There is data analysis sotware which runs under Linux, but do not run on a ARM based processors. Matlab and Bitalino Open Signals are examples for this. Are there any plans for a Pinephone which is based for instance on a Intel processor?

I don't know if this is occurring on the UBports end of things or the carrier end, but this is a somewhat concerning security bug.

I can send but do not receive SMS messages, I'm on dev channel, up to date as of today. I've filed a bug on that elsewhere. A couple of times a day I message my wife to see if she gets mine and to see if I get her reply. I never do. Today, I messaged her and she replied to the received message. I did not receive her reply, though her iPhone noted that the message had been received. She then got a message saying "Who is this?" to which she responded "It's your wife," and then a reply back saying "Huh?"

I did not receive any of her messages, nor did I receive any of the replies to those messages from whoever was sending them.

About 20 minutes after that, I DID receive a text message. It was an automated message from Venmo (or purporting to be so), with a 2-factor authorization code. That is the only text message I have received in several weeks. I have never had a venmo account.

My wife is using an iPhone, recent version, never has had any difficulties with SMS.

Can somebody explain to me what is going on, and how to fix it? I mean, like ASAP? I have no idea how much of my data is being compromised.

I am, to put it mildly, a little bit freaked.

I've been using Mobian on my Pinephone since receiving it last month, and am absolutely amazed at how far it has come in such a short amount of time. This will definitely become my daily driver in the near future (as soon as Purism fixes the problem in libpurple that won't allow me to receive SMS messages via CDMA). Thank you to a-wai and the rest of the devs for all your hard work on this great project.

One small problem I'm having, however, is with the default music player Lollypop. When I start the app I get a message saying "Scan disabled, missing collection." And then it won't find my music. I've got Mobian installed on the eMMC and have a 128Gb SD card I'd like to use to hold my music, photos, etc. At first I only had music on the SD card, told Lollypop where the music was located, but nothing came up in the app. Then I tried moving some music to the internal memory in the regular "Music" folder, redirected Lollypop to that folder, and it still didn't find it. I don't see a setting anywhere in Lollypop to enable a scan for my music, so I'm stuck.

I installed Rhythmbox and it sees my music just fine, but I'd like to give Lollypop a try since it's probably better-suited to a small screen.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any thoughts on how to fix it would be appreciated.

When I was looking at the included dock in the convergence package I noticed that it might not be ideal for convergence. Let me explain why.

The use case: 
 - You have the dock permanently on your desk connected to the monitor, power, keyboard, mouse, etc. And when you get to your desk you connect your pinephone with 1 cable to the dock and start working as if it where a desktop.

The problem: 
 - Now you are working while docked and you get a phone call.

The current options:
 - hold the phone to your ear with all the cables still attached (very awkward and clunky if at all possible as the lead of the dock is very short).
 - disconnect the pinephone from the dock to answer the call (you can't keep working in convergence while answering a call).
 - have a headset and answer the call using it (now you have to plug 2 cables to the pinephone as the dock does not have a jack).

Possible Solutions:
 - Replacing the lead of the dock with a connector so you can have a cable with the length you want.
 - Making the lead longer.
 - Having a headset or headphone and mic jack on the dock so you can have a headset always connected at your desk.

I know these solutions sound way easier than they are, as almost all if not all docks on the market have the current design (which is perfect for laptops but not for phones). So take these as just recommendations for the future :)


TL;DR: The lead of the dock included is too short for convergence use.
