| Keeping google out. |

Im sure the majority of our community wants to keep the big surveillance behemoths out of our PinePhones. This brings me to a question, how safe is it to sync up with google anything at any time? For example, syncing contacts from google. As a android user until now, google has played a big part of my tech life but i wish for this to be no more. With thousands of contacts stored in google, this would be easiest way to transfer them to my pinephone. But therein lies the problem. Could syncing with google even momentarily for something so meager have downstream effects on the privacy of my Pinephone? What about accessing other google services on an as need basis, but not google itself? I understand much of the tracking from google is built into android and backdoors hidden within apps. But would accessing google meets over morph browser or using a gmail account in a mail client on the pinephone pose any threat?

Here's what i see being the need for UBports to develop so the pinephone can be a daily driver:
1) contacts import
2) stable cellular connection on all networks incl. Data
3) bluetooth for in-car pairing
4) gps nav functioning
5) camera functionality
6) A VOIP app would be great!
7) in-call volume control
8) guaranteed stable build roll-outs on OTA so users don't need to worry about losing functions with new updates. From the above, much is now working but i still have some issues. I have phone calls now but dont seem to have data. If i could get data i might be able to make this a daily driver. Unfortunately I cant rely on wifi since most parking in my city is pay by phone only. Doesn't help unless im always parking outside a starbucks.

| Email addresses in Claws for Manjaro-Arm |

After a few problems, some of which were/are user caused, my PBP seems to be working good. However, when I installed an email app or program there were several choices: Claws, which is included with Manjaro; and Thunderbird, which is used on my main computer. Using Thunderbird, I am able to use almost any email server and use almost any email address that server allows. Claws, on the other hand, includes at least one email address (username@manjaro-arm). When I try to send a small file from the desktop computer (the main computer) to the PBP, I get a notice that the message can not be sent and gives a failure code. My question: Is there, or should there be, some designation at the end of the @manjaro-arm like .org or .net or .com? Wondering because it would be easy to use email to transfer short files between the two computers until I learn enough to set up some other way to connect the two computers.
Thank you,
James Good

not sure where to put this question, so leaving here...
i am preparing/leading STEM projects in my community with a small army of pbp's, and i hoped to do the same with hardrock64 devices. the idea being to share SOC development and create a single custom OS for ourselves, and share here of course. (we will use debian bullseye if you didn't figure that out from pbp forum...)
is anyone doing similar with rockpro64? any reason to wait for hardrock64 other than cost and simplicity? any improvements worth waiting for? (and do we know when hardrock64 will be released?)
thanks

Hey! Geary isn't working for me when I want to connect to gmail(says there's no network connection), so I'm trying to use epiphany and a webapp. It's not going well, mostly because it's loading a desktop version of the page. Is there a way to install a useragent plugin that would indicate to google to load a mobile version of the gmail page?

Hi everyone,
Just made an account here to ask this question.
I've been looking into making a Plex server on a SBC for a long-time now and I recently found the RockPro64. It seems to be the perfect entry level Plex server, but I've also been reading about a lack of dev support for this device compared to the R-Pi. I am somewhat proficient in Windows (read as "I need a GUI" or "I can double click .exe shortcuts and start wizards with the best of them!"), but I really don't know what I'm doing when it comes to Linux. I haven't used Linux in years and even then I was clueless. In terms of choices for OS, there are several (https://wiki.pine64.org/index.php/ROCKPr...ng_Started), but from what I read in a year old thread, I'm going to have to use Armbian (https://forum.armbian.com/topic/9310-rk3...-renegade/) to enable hardware acceleration.
That can't be right, can it?
My long-term goal is to have 3 RockPros that can stream Plex. I want to continue using GDrive for file hosting, and I plan on using rClone to mount GDrive to an SSD, mount the SSD on a RockPro64, install Plex, point it to the GDrive directory. Repeat 2 more times and give myself and 2 others a nice Christmas present with personalized streaming and an easy way of refreshing content across multiple different home networks (read 30 Mbps down, shitty upload speed).
Maybe I'll make a VPN down the line and use it to remotely access my streaming setup. Maybe.
Thoughts?
