Information ARM processor Emulation
Posted by: lord_lethris - 02-19-2016, 07:05 AM - Forum: Linux on Pine A64(+) - Replies (3)

I Havant got mine yet (its on its way hopefully, my kickstarter pledge said "March").
However, i'd love to get a heads up with my project.
Is there a decent ARM Emulator out there that works with windows, so I can start creating an OS on an SD card.

VirtualBox and VMWare doesn't have Processor emulation.

I know QEMU does, but that seems to have some weird Voodoo and it feels like I spend more time figuring out how to use it or start a VM - than I do actually using it.  I'm sure its good if you have a PHD in rocket science, but I don't.
any help or hints would be great.

If I need to build a Linux VM, then use that to build the OS for Pine64, then I'll do that instead.
(there seems to be a lot of stuff about creating ARM QEMU, but all the instructions are about building it under Linux - the forums seem to be riddled with fan-boys who aren't very "window users" friendly and start getting cocky when you mention "can I do this under windows").

Cool

  Compatible Battery Types/Brands List
Posted by: AUDIOTEK - 02-18-2016, 10:00 PM - Forum: POT modules - Replies (23)

I'm in Canada and cannot get the battery shipped to me and there's seems to be lots of confusion on which batteries will work.   Can we get a list of compatible batteries with links so we can order them easily? Ebay links would be great Big Grin  .

Another question does the AC to DC PSU actually charge the battery as well?

  Shipping Carrier
Posted by: linus.dillon - 02-18-2016, 05:58 PM - Forum: Shipment Related Discussion - Replies (3)

Hi,

Was wondering if order would be shipped (to Australia) via door-to-door style courier, or if it would end up in Australia Posts' system? This impacts the delivery address I will use (parcel locker or direct to business).

Thanks.

  Bluetooth Keyboard/mouse?

I was wondering if I would be able to use a bluetooth keyboard and mouse with the wifi/bluetooth module? Would keyboards with built in mouse trackpads work?

Orange Pi PC or PINE A64+
Posted by: vanjo9800 - 02-18-2016, 09:17 AM - Forum: General Discussion on PINE A64(+) - Replies (18)

Hello, I am wondering what should I buy: an Orange Pi PC for $15 or PINE A64+ for $29.

What I know up to now is that the Orange Pi PC is generally cheaper and can do almost all things the PINE can do. Also if I order it now it will come within 15 to 25 days, while the PINE A64+ will come near May. I want to use it for a desktop computer. Not for a main one, just to be able to have 2-3 tabs open and some basic stuff.

The problem is I don't have experience with something more powerful than a Raspberry Pi Zero, which sadly cannot hold more than 1 tab open, but is brilliant for projects. That is why I am asking people who have experience with both SoC, or have more knowledge than me about them to advice me what should I buy. There remains a possibility for me to buy first an Orange Pi PC and later PINE A64+.

Thank you in advance!!!

  RTC Backup Battery - CR

I didn't get a good second look at it. Is there a connector attached to the wires or will I need to attach one? Thanks

Kickstarter Limited PINE64 T-Shirt - $999 shipping cost to Poland

Some bug is present in the current backerkit survey. As topic title says, t-shirt has some ridiculous shipping cost - $999. I hope we can edit survey later when it is fixed Sad

  Wifi/BT module with/without an antenna?
Posted by: lianaboy - 02-18-2016, 01:59 AM - Forum: Wifi/BT Module - Replies (8)

Hi everybody,
just a quick question - does the Wifi/BT module contain an antenna? The Pine64 shown in the youtube videos has some kind of an antenna/wire.... Just wondering whether I should buy an external antenna with U.FL connector or it comes with the module... there is no info about it on the survey page...
BR,
Peter

  Lockdown Date in April?
Posted by: Evad74 - 02-18-2016, 12:16 AM - Forum: General Discussion on PINE A64(+) - Replies (10)

I received the survey, and of course added several items.

I originally pledged $36 to receive the 64+ with 2GB, and I believe they were to ship yet in Feb.  I just did my survey and of course added some items.  I thought I was careful not to add anything that would delay shipment, but upon completion I see the survey confirmation I received says estimated lockdown date of 04/15/16.  After that my card will be charged and items will be shipped.....  Did I add something that bumped my ship date?  I went back into it and none of the items I added said anything about delayed shipping.

Here's what I added:
64GB MicroSD Card - 64GBAND
Qty: 1 x $18.24

USB Keyboard HUB.
Qty: 1 x $10.99
HDMI to VGA Adapter With Audio
Qty: 1 x $6.24
Wifi 802.11BGN/ Bluetooth 4.0 Module
Qty: 1 x $9.99
PINE64 5V 2A Power Supply - USA
Qty: 1 x $6.24
RTC Backup Battery - AAA
Qty: 1 x $4.24

I'm sorry to bother, but I'm excited and don't want to wait for April to receive my board.  I'd rather remove something from my cart.  Am I understanding this correctly?

BTW, after I went back into my selection to double check for anything that indicated delayed shipping I simply closed the web browser tab without re-confirming.  I didn't undo my submission did I?

Thanks,
  Evad74
