Anyone know how long the phone takes to get to the USA. Super excited but didn't get an invoice or receipt when I ordered.

NVME SPI Update not booting SD Card
Posted by: WZ9V - 08-16-2020, 08:39 PM - Forum: Pinebook Pro Hardware and Accessories - Replies (5)

I updated the SPI following the instructions here https://github.com/pcm720/rockchip-u-boot/releases and now it boot directly to NVME but I seem to have lost the ability to boot from SD (green light won't come on at all).  If I remove the SD it powers and boots just fine.  BTW EMMC is removed at this time so that it won't boot first from that.

Was hoping to use the SD as a fallback to bypass the NVME if needed.

Found a newer update here https://github.com/pcm720/u-boot-build-scripts/releases

Trying that now.

Having troubles developing an app for UT, any good tutorials out there?
Posted by: ragreenburg - 08-16-2020, 04:12 PM - Forum: UBPorts on PinePhone - Replies (18)

I've seen the "Introduction to Clickable" that they have on the UT website but that's about it as far as tutorials go. Anyone know of any decent tutorials for building apps on UT? I am have been treading water on this and feel like there aren't any good resources for people trying to build apps on UT which would explain why almost everything is a webapp instead of a native app.

  Global scale-to-fit?
Posted by: DarkManiels - 08-16-2020, 01:38 PM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - Replies (5)

Greetings Mobianites!

Poking around a bit recently I discovered that there appears to be a global scale-to-fit setting for phoc that is set to false by default. To see what would happen I set it to true:

Code:
gsettings set sm.puri.phoc scale-to-fit true

After doing this I noticed that I can now dismiss multiple Evolution notifications at a time (with the "Dismiss all" button) from the notification itself, whereas previously that button was off the screen so I had to either dismiss them one-by-one or open Evolution to dismiss them all. It also seems like I no longer have to individually turn on scale-to-fit with new applications, but I've only installed a few apps since making that change and maybe they were ones that would have already fit anyway.

Does anyone know if this is really what this setting is intended for? And if so, why would it be set to false by default?

  broken sd card reader?
Posted by: kratti - 08-16-2020, 10:38 AM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinebook Pro - Replies (13)

Any idea what I could try to do when any sd card that I try on my pinebook pro gives I/O error when I try to write to it? I've so far tried 3 cards, the first of which I used earlier to try several distros on the pinebook pro and it always functioned flawlessly and was really fast. After I got the I/O error on that sd card I purchased two new sd cards but both of them give an I/O error straight away when I try to write on them on the pinebook pro.

Unfortunately I don't have any other sd card readers with which to try if the cards can be used and I really don't want to buy unneccessary hardware just for troubleshooting. Is there anything I could try with just the pinebook pro?

  Backorder functionality
Posted by: polrus - 08-15-2020, 11:58 PM - Forum: General - Replies (6)

Hi
I think you guys should add a "backorder" button .
This would allow you to see how much intereset there is in each product so you could shift your focus and resources accordingly and also estimate the sales volumes.

FOr exmaple now pinetab is out of stock and there's no way custommers can give you feedback to plan your future orders.

  Verizon on pinephone
Posted by: MHT719 - 08-15-2020, 10:33 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (1)

Hi everyone, I right now am using Verizon and would like to get a pinephone and wondered if anybody had any experience using verizon with it and if it works partially, fully, or not at all.  Please include what OS as if I do get one I will most likely swap around a lot.

Dangerous OTA behaviour between build 143 and 145
Posted by: Cree - 08-15-2020, 12:02 PM - Forum: UBPorts on PinePhone - No Replies

It seems something about build 143 changed the OTA updates to not only auto download but attempt to automatically install on reboot. Not my personal settings, just what it did. For my the update attempt was triggered on charging after a flat battery. As can be expected, it wasnt initialized properly and the update froze. Had to do hard reset. This seems dangerous as far as potentially corrupting devices especially with the known firmware vulnerability in the modem. Wanted to warn the dev team about this. Better keep our PPs safe and only install upon click.

Ordered protective case, got back cover.

Not exactly the same thing. Happy to keep the spare part. Reordered. Hope i get the right thing next time.

  VPN

Has anyone any experience with running a VPN on the PBP? I use ExpressVPN, and it has some Linux installation options, not for PBP, of course, but I don't want to mess around until I hear from this query. The PBP is running great, and I don't want to throw a spanner into the works.
