  Darktable - characters are square
Posted by: PaulQ - 08-30-2020, 06:08 PM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinebook Pro - Replies (7)

Love my Pinebook, setting it up with my favourite apps, then ran into a problem with Darktable. It appears to need a font that's missing, because all of the characters are little squares. I ran sudo fc-cache -vf, but this did not help. I wonder if anyone else has ran into this, and if so, what's the solution?

Question Addressing persistent battery discharge on Braveheart
Posted by: User 18618 - 08-30-2020, 06:00 PM - Forum: PinePhone Hardware - No Replies

In the July Update, a solution to the USB-C issue was offered to Braveheart and UBports Community Edition owners.

However, the solution to the 'battery discharging while the phone is powered off' issue was not mentioned.

@Luke, would it be possible to offer this fix in the same chain?

Many thanks.

  Phone won't charge in Mobian
Posted by: ragreenburg - 08-30-2020, 04:59 PM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - Replies (4)

Recently flashed an SD with Mobian and noticed that it isn't charging. Anyone else have similar issues? For what it's worth, I am on the most recent nightly build.

  Debian/Mobian for PBP
Posted by: bcnaz - 08-30-2020, 04:17 PM - Forum: Linux on Pinebook Pro - No Replies

Could we get an easy to copy to sd card version of Debian in a '"Mobian style"'
placed in the wiki for Pinebook Pro users ?

Will there be any September Pinephone sales ?
Posted by: bcnaz - 08-30-2020, 03:31 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (10)

Will there be any September Pinephone sales, or will Pine64 wait for feedback from the
last batch before they offer them again ?

Are there any more main board revisions planned ?

Thanks

 Answered by Luke,
                 Thanks Luke

They will be opening orders in " mid - September " !

They have decided to ship it with Manjaro installed from the factory.

They are still considering which of 3 desktops to use,
Currently the Phosh desktop gets the best battery life.

Phosh would definitely be my first choice as a phone desktop !

  Changing the ringtone?
Posted by: Hiraghm - 08-30-2020, 03:30 PM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - Replies (9)

Is it still not possible to change the ringtone under Mobian to something that will actually get your attention?
Whenever an SMS or call comes in, I still just get that little "bweep" noise.
I want to set it to  something obnoxious and preferably louder.
Also, do the volume buttons actually work with the volume of the ringtone?

  Lucky Mobile Compatibility (Canada)
Posted by: Potts - 08-30-2020, 12:36 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (2)

Afternoon,

I ordered my first Pine-phone recently and am looking for a compatible SIM card that will work with the device. Canada's phone plans are expensive as heck and don't offer much- so I am looking to use a pre-paid SIM instead for the Pine-phone.

Have any Canadians had luck with Lucky Mobile? Are there any ways to determine the compatibility with the new Pine phone before activating a SIM card?

Any information is appreciated!

Question Stuck trying to flash phone
Posted by: zeroed - 08-30-2020, 09:13 AM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (1)

Huh
Trying to follow the Jumpdrive flashing instructions on the Mobian Wiki and have run into a wall.

Once I run "blkid" to list the devices, I get a list of 10 devices in the phone.

Which one do I direct bmap to?

I was told to flash to, for example, /dev/sde rather than /dev/sdeX  as in:

sudo bmaptool copy mobian-pinephone-20200805.img.gz /dev/sde

This gets an error that the dev is busy... and I can't unmount it.  I'm afraid to just pick one of the partitions because I don't know what will happen if I use the wrong one.

These are my options:

sde      8:64  1  14.7G  0 disk
├─sde1    8:65  1   1.9M  0 part
├─sde2    8:66  1      1M  0 part /run/media/binky/b93cc654-5b81-4149-b3d2-b37e
├─sde3    8:67  1      8M  0 part /run/media/binky/62f503f8-03ae-477c-9ca1-908c
├─sde4    8:68  1    64M  0 part /run/media/binky/ceb00a06-e590-4426-8072-71cf
├─sde5    8:69  1  64.3M  0 part
├─sde6    8:70  1  63.9M  0 part /run/media/binky/6c7b502b-e5af-4ede-8b76-8dcb
├─sde7    8:71  1  63.9M  0 part
├─sde8    8:72  1    2.4G  0 part /run/media/binky/cache
├─sde9    8:73  1    2.4G  0 part /run/media/binky/db17074a-eb35-43cc-b22d-bce9
└─sde10  8:74  1    8.6G  0 part /run/media/binky/userdata

Is anybody able to help me?

Am I supposed to flash keyboard firmware and u-boot imgs?
Posted by: superkazuya - 08-29-2020, 11:46 PM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinebook Pro - Replies (4)

Just got my PBP Aug batch and have 2 questions:
1. Am I supposed to flash the touchpad/keyboard firmware linked in the wiki?
2. If I want to boot from SD, am I supposed to flash anything? I believe that the chip boots to emmc first, then the u-boot on the emmc is supposed to try booting from sd-card. Is that how it works?

[AUG 2020] PBP Battery Issue (?)
Posted by: mercato - 08-29-2020, 10:55 PM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinebook Pro - Replies (7)

Just got my newly ordered PBP a few days back, and started playing around with it. Overall love it, and I'm looking forward to experimenting with different OSes and configurations.

The charger that came with the box manages to charge the PBP, but it seems to get stuck at ~87% battery no matter how long I leave it charging whilst it's off. I switched to a 5V3A USB 3.0 PD charger and cable, and that pushed it to around ~91% but no further.

Today I got around to downloading Fedora Linux and went through the motion of decompressing and dd'ing onto a SanDisk Class-10 A1 64GB microSD (verified with F3), and I noticed that the action of these two combined whacked my battery from 25% to 12% even while charging at max input of 5V3A (USB 3.0 port). The action of writing/reading 50+GiBs alone shouldn't cause the drain, as F3 testing did that with no discernible impact on battery.

Is this normal? Or is there something wrong with my battery? With both the inability to reach capacity and the massive drain issue. I believe it's still under warranty so I could perhaps ask for a replacement battery.
