  Hardware acceleration using FFmpeg
Posted by: gusarg81 - 08-21-2020, 01:36 PM - Forum: Linux on Rock64 - No Replies

Hi,

Currently after having this nice hardware without a use, I am setting up a survillance system and later I will develop a own IP doorbell y using additional hardware like Arducam USB UVC models (ex. https://www.arducam.com/product/b0205-ar...h-ir-leds/).

Now, I would like to know if possible to make hardware acceleration to work with FFmpeg (since I am planning to use Motioneye or Shinobi) and booth uses FFmpeg for stream rtsp cameras (which is the type cameras I have). Without it, for example, Motioneye with 3 cameras takes like 300% of CPU and thats because: is using the CPU instead.

What specially settings do I need for FFmpeg compilation? (or any particular branch/repo/fork of FFmpeg, kernel, etc).
I already compiled FFmpeg along with --enable-rkmpp and related, and hwaccels methods: vdpau vaapi drm (but seems not acceleration for this GPU)

Thanks in advance.

Results:  ubports/2020-08-21

Conclusion:  Still not ready.

Notes: So the call quality of the mic out was great. Was able to clearly hear response clearly. Good improvement on that side. 3G texting outbound did not work for me. 4G call just reported  "No Calls". All in all back on track, seems like there is some movement on functionality here.

LTE modem datasheet links on the wiki are outdated
Posted by: numa - 08-21-2020, 02:32 AM - Forum: PinePhone Hardware - Replies (5)

The pine64 wiki datasheet links for the LTE modem link to outdated files, also there are quite a few more data sheets available on the vendors product page (though I don't know if all are applicable to the modem in the Pinephone).

Here are the most recent versions of the files listed by the wiki:
https://www.quectel.com/UploadFile/Produ...n_V2.0.pdf
https://www.quectel.com/UploadImage/Down...l_V1.3.pdf

A login seems to be required to access the various data sheets, but this can be circumvented by directly accessing the files using the base url "https://www.quectel.com/UploadImage/Downlad/" + "<file_name>.pdf".

For example, the link for "Quectel_EC25_Hardware_Design_V2.3" resolves to https://www.quectel.com/UploadImage/Down...n_V2.3.pdf

It would be nice if the wiki could be updated in that regard, thanks

Conclusion: Looks like this os is coming along nicely. Still not ready for pinephone to be a general daily driver.

Notes: Texts seems quicker, call quality was better than yesterday. Speaker still blows.

  Linaro /lib/modules/4.4.70/build missing
Posted by: optomus - 08-20-2020, 05:28 PM - Forum: General Discussion on ROCK64 - No Replies

Hello,

I have flashed up linaro as found on the wiki at http://files.pine64.org/os/ROCK64/debian...k64.img.xz

I am trying to install driver for PAU05. I download the linux driver from panda wireless and then follow their instructions.

I hit the point where I need to tar jxvf linuxdriver4fedora_v2.5.0.3.tar.bz2 and then make it.

When executing make, I get make[1]: *** /lib/modules/4.4.70/build: No such file or directory.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to solve this?

Further, when trying to upgrade the kernel, I run sudo apt-get install linux-image-armmp and it is successful while telling me I need to install the headers which I do... But upon reboot uname -r still shows 4.4.70. Any thoughts?

Thank you!

How to update U-Boot for PostmarketOS on the PinePhone and much more!
Posted by: dustfinger - 08-20-2020, 04:31 PM - Forum: PostmarketOS on PinePhone - Replies (2)

Hi,

I just posted an article on how to update U-Boot for PostmarketOS on the PinePhone. From the introduction of the article:

Quote:In this article, I am going to explain what U-Boot, SoC and the SPL are. After that, I will describe the sunxi bootable storage layout as well as the PinePhone boot procedure, so you will understand what you will be updating and why. Then, I will teach you how to determine if an upgrade is required, and I will explain two different ways of upgrading U-Boot. As a special treat for the curious, I will show you the first steps to reverse engineer the U-Boot+SPL firmware blob. I hope this article peeks your curiosity and encourages you to learn more.

Cheers!

Trevor

  No calls

Wondering,
is anyone else having issues with calls not coming through on Ubuntu touch?
Was out and about a few weeks ago with my PinePhone and had messages online later that day that several people had been trying to reach me, yet no notification what so ever on the PinePhone about it. Earlier that day, I was making calls with the phone so I was just assuming this was working properly. Am I correct to assume this is an issue with software?
I've looked every second day or so for updates to Ubuntu touch through "updates" under settings, but no system updates available.

I tried PostmarketOS just when I got the phone, but was unable to make calls in or out. Not really sure why. Are both distros having issues with calls?

Ctrl + Shift + Tab not working in Firefox
Posted by: Bolitoglossa - 08-20-2020, 03:08 PM - Forum: Getting Started - Replies (2)

Hello,

In the preferences in Firefox, I have deactivated the setting "Ctrl+Tab cycles through tabs in recently used order". This should allow me to move to the left tab by using "Ctrl + Shift + Tab", but it is not working. I have checked through the default key bindings and there is no conflict. All of the keys work fine, it is just this specific binding that is problematic.

I have looked for this problem in more obvious places (Firefox and Manjaro forums), but I have not seen anyone talking about this issue. Does this feature work for any of you? I am working on a brand new pinebook pro.
