1. I flashed the sd card with the latest jumpdrive.
2. I put the sd card in the  phone.
3. I rebooted the phone.
4. I got the message "jumpdrive is running"
5. I connected the phone to my computer
6. In the file manager "pmos boot" and "pmos root" appeared
7. In the linux terminal /dev/dm-0 appeared.

What next? How to flash the harddrive?

Pinebook to Pinebook Pro-esque upgrade kit
Posted by: sebboh - 09-01-2020, 03:00 PM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinebook - Replies (5)

Hi.

Every few weeks, I search the forums and blog posts for news of the upgrade kit.

I would like to be notified as soon as one becomes available.  I worry that only a small batch of them will be sold, and I don't want to miss out!

I could just buy a Pro..  But.. You see, my spouse occasionally reminds me that I purchased an Arm-based laptop (My Pinebook 1080p) and never did anything productive with it.  So.. I want to upgrade it, and somehow imply that the original purchase was a wise one after all.

So.  I activated the "email notifications" option for this thread.  Please let me know when upgrade kits are available by replying to this thread!

Discussion of the upgrade kits is also welcome.  Here are is a search link to my other threads on these forums, all of which are related to the upgrade kit (at this time, at least!). https://forum.pine64.org/search.php?acti...r&uid=9462

Questions...

When I say Pinebook 1080p, does that refer to exactly one model, unambiguously?  Or must I be more specific?

Will the upgrade kit be compatible with the exact model of Pinebook I have?

Thank you, thank you,

--sebboh

  My Daily QA - 2020-09-01
Posted by: plainenough - 09-01-2020, 02:50 PM - Forum: UBPorts on PinePhone - Replies (2)

Be aware, these tests are being executed using an out-of-box testing methodology. All tests are preformed with minimal interaction/setup of devices outside of: OS imaging/updating,  SIM installation, Wifi Configuration,  and Power Cycling the devices.

Resultsubports/2020-09-01-TMobile

Conclusion: This OS is not ready for the pinephone to become a daily driver.

Notes: Needed to restart phone to get audio after failed 4G test. Submitted an issue. Outbound 3G SMS broken, submitted a ticket. Needed to restart camera app to test. Initial load rendering was completely incorrect. (SPlit the image in half and put the bottom half on the top.) Also I did not test Verizon because results not likely to change. Instead I might begin testing PMOS since I just got my PMOS device today,

Issues:
Failed outbound 4G calls kills call audio.
Unable to send 3G SMS Since Dev-158
4G outbound calls broken.
Phone gets stuck in a weird lock state when spamming power button.

  "Fancy" screenshot tool not working
Posted by: ragreenburg - 09-01-2020, 02:21 PM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - Replies (7)

Below is a link listed from the Mobian wiki that should take screenshots once the "required packages are installed" my issue is it says notify-send isn't installed but when I use "sudo apt install bash libglib2.0-bin" as per the notify-send GitHub page, it says everything is installed. Has anyone tried this and had success? I'm at work right now or else I would dig a bit deeper.

reset postmarket os to factory specifications
Posted by: jmak - 09-01-2020, 02:10 PM - Forum: Getting Started - Replies (2)

Hello,

Is there any way to reset postmarket os to factory specifications, like in android and start the installation process all over again?

Thanks.

Question SMS backup and call logging?
Posted by: agD0i7rY - 09-01-2020, 01:48 PM - Forum: Manjaro on PinePhone - Replies (2)

On Android I use SMS Backup, there is the same thing on Linux/PostmarketOS?
Or just local backups in a json, xml or other format?

Big Grin Received my PinePhone today.

Greetings from a PinePhone newbie. This is posted from my newly arrived PinePhone PmOS Convergence Edition. Yeah!

Just got it and played with it for a short while. PmOS installation went smoothly. The USB dongle was connected. I have not figured out how to get the HDMI out as it did not work out of the box for me. My Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse worked flawlessly. PD from the dongle works.

  Incorrect Passphrase!
Posted by: TheosProta - 09-01-2020, 12:38 PM - Forum: PostmarketOS on PinePhone - Replies (26)

Hello,

My PostmarketOS edition Pinephone arrived today and I was elated to have it up and running, I followed the instructions and successfully booted into the lockscreen with what looked to be a password bar, I enter in my Password and I get "incorrect passphrase", forgive me if this is a stupid question, but wouldn't passphrase be the same password I chose during setup? Or is it due to some kind of basic boot password like "147147" (which didn't work either). Thank you for your time!

to clarify, I do have encryption enabled but SSH is disabled.

  pinephone doesn't boot
Posted by: jmak - 09-01-2020, 12:07 PM - Forum: General - No Replies

Hello,
I received my postmarket os today. I went through the installation process. After postmarket os was installed I entered the password, but the os doesn't boot. I see only a flashing cursor. (when the isntallation was finished I entered the encryption password rather than the numerical password. Can this be the problem?)
I hard rebooted the device several times. After reboot the login page comes up. I enter the password, then the massages says, postmarket os is loading then I get the flashing cursor.

I have no idea what to do next.

Any help would be appreciated.

  Initial thoughts, PinePhone PostMarket edition.

Just unboxed my postmarket phone. Very nice install script. Allowed me to enable ssh immediately. Working through setup was easy. I may begin testing this device against Verizon soon.

After running through it a little bit, the pre-installed OS has been snappier than the SD card install I flashed last week. Needed a reboot to actually connect to wifi after initial setup.
