Armbian: Ethernet port goes down shortly after successful configuration.
Posted by: Kawayuppie - 04-16-2021, 03:05 AM - Forum: Linux on Pine H64 - Replies (1)

Hi,

I am having trouble with Ethernet port on Pine H64 B. When I connect it to a GigE port on a switch, it goes get configured correctly, speed and and address, but quit quickly link goes down and there is no way to resurrect. Vert frustrating. I have yet to try a new kernel, but I am using latest GA of Armbian.

Linux pineh64 5.10.21-sunxi64 #21.02.3 SMP Mon Mar 8 00:45:13 UTC 2021 aarch64 GNU/Linux

These are the errors I see in the dmesg log (journalctl -k).

I will see if I can get a later kernel and try that but, however, in the meantime if someone who knows how to fix this, please let  me know.

  Block unknown callers
Posted by: Linuuux - 04-15-2021, 07:06 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - No Replies

Is there a way, yet, to block unknown callers (i.e. callers not in my address book)?  I have a major problem with spam phone calls/telemarketers.

Music No success with audio
Posted by: crmcalls - 04-15-2021, 04:03 PM - Forum: General Discussion on ROCKPRO64 - Replies (2)

I have Manjaro with DWM running on the RockPro64 and have just dealt with the audio not working however it's becoming an issue.
Is there anything that needs to be done beyond installing pulseaudio and pavucontrol because I've done that and still no luck.

Cannot boot from SD cards any longer.
Posted by: MadHopsMan - 04-15-2021, 03:24 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (8)

Not sure what I'm doing wrong here but I cannot boot from the SD Card any longer.  I tried multiple cards and multiple images.  I can't even boot off of jumpdrive installed on SD cards to reflash eMMC.  So now I'm stuck with a dud.  My unlock password is not working and I can't reload a new image on the eMMC or boot to an alternate image from SD.  Anyone else run in to this problem or have any ideas on how to get it working again?

More info: I can get it to boot in to the default OS and access it BEFORE the screenlock kicks on.  While in this mode, when I run lsblk from terminal, I CAN indeed see the SD Storage card here so I's not like it's dead.....it's just that I can't boot off of any images any longer.

Anyone try an NVIDIA GPU in the PCIe slot?
Posted by: Paraplegic Racehorse - 04-15-2021, 11:46 AM - Forum: General Discussion on ROCKPRO64 - No Replies

I was scooting around the interwebs and noticed that NVIDIA has Linux aarch64 drivers for their GPUs.

Presumably, this is intended for the big-metal ARM servers, but I am curious to know if anyone has tried plugging a discreet GPU onto the board and testing out the drivers.

Black screen on both FydeOS as Chromium from github
Posted by: QuinTeknoLife - 04-15-2021, 11:44 AM - Forum: Chromium OS on Pinebook Pro - No Replies

Hey,

I've been trying to get Chromium OS to start from sd, but both FydeOS as Chromium R77 are giving me a black screen and a (single) chime sound on boot...

Edit: I have resolved the issue. If anyone else is running into these not booting issues, install mrfixits' u-boot (using an SD-card with any working linux, flip the eMMC/SD switch to SD, press the power button and after 2 seconds flip the switch back to eMMC and you should be booting off the SD-card while still being able to write to the eMMC)

  Screen dying already?
Posted by: marcih - 04-15-2021, 07:30 AM - Forum: PinePhone Hardware - Replies (156)

UPDATE July 7:
The delamination has spread over the last 3 months and has gotten to the point where large chunks of the screen stopped responding to touch input and I'm no longer able to unlock my SIM card (the bottom left part of the screen where you switch between letters and numbers on the OSK isn't responding).

I'm packing and sending my phone off to PINE64 for an RMA as we speak after contacting them via their ticketing system. Here's what the support representative told me after receiving photos of the screen upon their request:

PINE64 support Wrote:As per the LCD screen issue, you are required to ship the PinePhone without battery and accessories to the below address. As our engineer would like to find the root cause of the issue.
If you've encountered the issue as well, feel free to let others know in this thread but please also contact PINE64 support with photos of your screen, it'll likely be helpful if they receive more reports and faulty screens to investigate.

ORIGINAL POST:

I have had the Manjaro CE since November and have been using it as a daily driver pretty much the whole time I've had it. Unfortunately, my screen has recently been getting these deformations(?) around the edges, see photos:

They've suddenly appeared one day, starting with the bar of rectangles on the top and spread to the sides in the span of around a week, although it seems like it's stopped now. It's only visible when I shine a light on the screen, i.e. can't be seen in the dark with just the backlight shining. It doesn't look like it's damage to the screen protector or the glass, the artifacts look like they're below the glass. Is the screen permanently damaged? What could have been the cause of this? Damage by heat? Water (air moisture)? Pressure? If I replace the screen, what can I do to avoid this in the future?

  control RP64 power on
Posted by: LMM - 04-15-2021, 02:59 AM - Forum: General Discussion on ROCKPRO64 - No Replies

Hi,
I am trying to find a way to control the power on/power off on my RP64 cluster nodes in order to switch off some unused units during the night and of course switch on some of them when the cluster reaches a load threshold. So far I am thinking of three ways (suggested by some pine64 irc users):
- use the GPIO communication to control the 4 pin header
- use a relay that controls the power supply
- use a PoE switch with a splitter

Has someone solved this topic or have any suggestions ?
