3D-Printable Button Pegs for the ROCK64 Aluminium Case
Posted by: CounterPillow - 05-20-2021, 06:54 PM - Forum: Rock64 Hardware and Accessories - Replies (2)

As you may know, the ROCK64 Aluminium case does not allow you to press buttons without the use of some utensil to stick into the hole. After having heard of a different user who superglued some plastic pegs to the buttons of his ROCK64, I became inspired to make my own version, which is glueless and just has the plastic pegs sit in the holes, held in by a lip that keeps them inside.

[Image: ROCK64%20Aluminum%20Casing%20Plastic%20P...Photo.jpeg]

The pegs are 3D printed from PLA using a 0.25mm nozzle on a Prusa i3 MK3, though larger nozzles and other printers should work as well. You can download the STL and STEP files from the wiki here: Download .zip

Installation is simple, to quote from the wiki:

Quote:To use the pegs, open your case and remove the ROCK64 from within. Be sure to pull out the light guide and rubber plug to remove it, or else it will catch on them. Once it is removed, turn your bottom half of the case such that the holes for PWR and RST are pointing towards the floor, and drop the pegs into the holes from inside the case, so that the lip prevents them from falling through. Hold them in position with your finger, turn the case the right side up again, and reinstall your ROCK64.

I just wanted to share this on the forums. It was a quick bit of CAD and trial-and-error to get a size that feels right, but I'm quite happy with the result.

IR reciever in socket from A64+ to Pinephone?
Posted by: Daniel972 - 05-20-2021, 06:05 PM - Forum: PinePhone Hardware - Replies (2)

Hi. Pine64 still sells the IR receiver with remote
for the A64 SBCs. Sorry for sounding nooby.
I bought the phone from Pine64 to learn all
these new things about tech .
Q:
How much would one have to modify a
Pinephone mainboard to return the IR socket
that exist on the A64 boards?

Pinephone64 ring volume is very low
Posted by: mudflap - 05-20-2021, 01:56 PM - Forum: PinePhone Hardware - Replies (2)

Hi guys/gals -
I used to be able to hear my phone ring, but since the last update a few days ago (Plasma Mobile) - or maybe I messed it up - I can barely hear it ring. I tried to adjust the volume by overclocking it, but it doesn't seem to do much beyond distort the (still very quiet) ring. wife gonna be mad at me if I keep missing her calls, lol.....

Also, unrelated - is speakerphone mode supposed to work yet?

Thank you in advance!

  infinitytime 1.0 includes games
Posted by: 11Eleven - 05-20-2021, 01:06 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PineTime - Replies (2)

Hey all, I just flashed all the InfiniTime firmwares to the 1.0.0 on my pinetime that I just got yesterday; smooth process following the wiki, this thing is pretty awesome.

The new version of the software actually includes 3 ''games''.  The first is just drawing with your finger on the screen, there's one-player pong game where you just bounce be ball against the wall instead of having an opponent.  The last game, called ''2'', is perplexing to me and I'm wondering if anybody knows how to play it.  It's a 4 x 4 grid and starts off blank except for 2 squares that both have a 2 in them.  When you swipe any direction, the values get pushed to the edge, you get new values and I think some of the existing ones get added... I got a high score of 668... I'm just curious to know if anybody knows the actual rules to this game.

edit: I think you have to match 2 similar numbers and it doubles them, I'm at 1688 high score now.

  camera firmware problems
Posted by: kqlnut - 05-20-2021, 05:20 AM - Forum: PinePhone Hardware - Replies (25)

I just found out that my phone has problems with the ov5640 camera firmware as reported here. The firmware is loaded, but apparently can't be started correctly which leads to the autofocus feature not working. Other than that taking pictures works. This is the output from dmesg:

Code:
[ 72.687561] ov5640 4-004c: firmware upload success
[ 72.996306] ov5640 4-004c: uploaded firmware didn't start, got to 0x7f, retrying...
[ 73.304696] ov5640 4-004c: uploaded firmware didn't start, got to 0x7f
[ 73.311504] ov5640 4-004c: ov5640_set_ctrl_focus: no autofocus firmware loaded

This happens every time I open Megapixels. I tried it on Manjaro Phosh unstable from eMMC and on the latest Mobian nightly from an SD card. I cannot recall it ever having worked in the past either. Apparently it works for other people though

Does anyone have more insights on this? Could this be faulty hardware which could be fixed by replacing the camera?

  briicked, fix from MASKROM mode?
Posted by: QuinTeknoLife - 05-20-2021, 03:13 AM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinebook Pro - Replies (1)

Hey all,

During trying to flash TwisterOS to my emmc I seemingly have done something wrong, causing my pbp to brick. To my horror I found out that it's also refusing to boot from SD, however MASKROM mode still is working. I tried flipping switch 24 both ways and SD boot refused both cases. I sadly do not have the usb emmc adapter (because I actually won this device Tongue)

Does anybody have an idea how to restore/flash Manjaro or any other distro using MASKROM and rkdevtool? I have a machine with both Win10 and linux (with rkdevtool on both) available for flashing.

Edit: some progress! Using the instructions on the bottom of this page ( https://lists.denx.de/pipermail/u-boot/2...03041.html ) I have gotten the pbp to the point where the power led will light up green without SD, but with SD still nothing happens.

Question PineBook Pro shipping to India
Posted by: User 22380 - 05-20-2021, 01:23 AM - Forum: Shipment Related Discussion - Replies (2)

Hello everyone

I'd like to buy PineBook Pro and have it shipped to India.
Unfortunately, the store says that there are no shipment options available.

I've read a couple of posts from fellow Indians and inferred that we used
to ship to India in past. Is the unavailability recent/temporary?

I've contacted a local reseller FabToLab about it and they too said that the
product is unavailable (although their web-store says otherwise).

It'd be great if anyone can let me know if/when can shipping be available
to India. Or why can it not be available in foreseeable future. (e.g. maybe
because customs are rejecting it)

Peace

Running Manjaro KDE on pinebook pro, yet to be successful having an appimage run. Am I missing a prerequisite that I need? The only info I seem to see on searches is to change permissions on the file and it magically runs - not…..
