How to install Gentoo on Pine64 ? |

Hi,
I would like to know if there is any specific instruction on how to install Gentoo or Linux From Scratch on Pine64.
For raspberry pi I used to install raspbian and copy the firmware and kenrel files to my Gentoo installation.
I just wanted to know if there is any specific "setting" required in order to run a linux distribution on Pine64 or some firmware blobs and where I could find those.
Thank you very much in advance!

Mail server setup help? |

So I'm a little embarrassed this has stumped me. I've never set up a mail server before, though and I'm having some trouble. I don't want a full mail server at this point, I just want to send outbound notifications to myself, so I'm not linking this to a valid domain name.
First, I installed postfix , since that seemed to be the consensus as the best option. And.... that's where I'm stumped. The mail command just hangs when I try to send a test message to my Gmail account, and I'm sure I need to set up some parameters in the /etc/postfix/main.cf config file but I'm struggling to figure it out what exactly.
I've looked at this, but I'm not really seeing an answer there. Also, I should add that it appears postfix is running OK:
Code: inetv@pine64pro:~$ sudo systemctl status postfix
postfix.service - LSB: Postfix Mail Transport Agent
Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/postfix)
Drop-In: /run/systemd/generator/postfix.service.d
└─50-postfix-$mail-transport-agent.conf
Active: active (running) since Sun 2016-05-29 11:41:07 UT
ago
Process: 1851 ExecStart=/etc/init.d/postfix start (code=ex
tus=0/SUCCESS)
CGroup: /system.slice/postfix.service
├─2092 /usr/lib/postfix/master
├─2093 pickup -l -t unix -u -c
└─2094 qmgr -l -t unix -u
ay 29 11:41:07 pine64pro postfix[1851]: Starting Postfix Ma
ay 29 11:41:07 pine64pro postfix/master[2092]: daemon start
ay 29 11:41:07 pine64pro systemd[1]: Started LSB: Postfix M
int: Some lines were ellipsized, use -l to show in full.
I've also installed sendmail because it didn't appear to be installed, but I still get a "command not found" error when I try to use it from the command line. mail gives no such error, but just hangs and never sends the message.
I thought this would be easy! I'm sure I'm doing some simple dumb mistake, though. Any help would be very appreciated.

Shop orders delayed forever? |

When I ordered my Pine64 there was no disclaimer that we would need to wait for every KS order to be fulfilled in order for people who bought it from the store to get their devices.
As far as these forums go, it seems that there are some issues with cases, addon boards etc.
So does this mean we will wait until every other KS order is fully shipped for you to remember shop buyers ?
You should offer cancellation option for the people who bought via shop and whose orders are not fulfilled.

I have a two wire battery and I tried connecting it to the board on pin one and the but it seems not to work. According to the silk screen, and schematic that is correct. The schematic has a note however that I don't understand
"If do not use temp. Measure feature. Place OR." I am not sure what this means or what OR Is referring to, seems that I need to do something but I'm not sure what... Any ideas?

sometimes, my pine64 shows the startup screen for several minutes on startup, and then indicates that it is optimizing apps.
does this mean that the pine has done automatic firmware / android updates or what's the reason for this behaviour?

Pine64 in standby mode |

Hi,
I want to bring pine64 to a "standby" mode. In this mode I want to disable three cpu cores, decrease the frequency of cpu0, unload drivers, disable HDMI. The only thing I want to keep active in this mode is the bluetooth module.
I'm thinking to use the command below to disable cpu cores:
echo 0 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu4/online
Can someone help me on how can I achieve this standby mode? E.g. how can I disable/enable the HDMI?
Thx a lot...

lipo battery boot issue |

Hello,
I'm just the messenger of the encountered issue - it was brought to by attention by Arffeh, who asked me to create this post. From what he wrote to me it transpires that a drained or partially drained battery can can cause a failed boot even if the board is connected to the mains.
He wrote:
"A completely dead lipo when connected, with the jumper correctly set, causes a failure to boot when correct power is applied (...). I'm talking about using actual normal power, with the battery just chilling out (...) Shouldn't cause a full failure to boot, but yeah. The battery is able to affect the 2.1 amp input (...) [I] plucked the battery and reapplied power [and it boot correctly]".
Has anyone else encountered a similar problem or has a suggestion of how to resolve this ?
Cheers

Pine64+ 2GB, BT, Batt, Acrylic Case For Sale |

Hello all
I bought my Pine64+ to create a media centre and replace my PopcornHour A210 which had sadly died. TL Lim very kindly replaced the motherboard on my PopcornHour kinda negating my need for the Pine.
The Pine is a great board, but is not quite ready in software terms (IMHO) to be a dedicated media player just yet. Certainly not capable of replacing my A210. I think it will be a great media centre in the future, just not yet.
As you can see from the photos, the board is tested and working (I've had Android, Remix OS & Debian running on it (thanks to all the devs on here who've made that possible).
Included in the sale: - Pine64+ 2GB board
- Battery backup module
- BT/WiFi module (fitted to the mainboard)
- Official Pine64 mains adaptor (UK plus international fittings)
- Acrylic case (I added fluffy pads to the metal feet which could be removed)
The package cost me $71 US (incl. delivery) which translates to £48.50 GBP or €63.90 Euros. I will accept £45 including delivery within the UK and I will accept my losses. Outside the UK, there would be a surcharge to cover additional postage of £5.
Payment via PayPal. PM me if you would like the board. I will post via the quickest method that isn't a ridiculous cost.
Photos here.
