Veracrypt not launching? - Labape - 06-02-2016

Hey all, question for you.  I have my Pine up and running with Ubuntu and the Mate GUI.  I'm trying to install some 3rd party encryption, specifically Veracrypt at this point and I'm having some difficulty.  I have a basic working knowledge of Linux, but am still quite a noob when it comes to anything other than the basics so please bear with me.

I have installed the software manually (apt-get failed to install it) and it appears to have installed, but when I run it, nothing happens.  If I attempt to run it from the terminal, I get a syntax error (

I guess my first question is will Veracrypt run on Mate?  And if so, what am I doing wrong?

Thanks

I’m also interested in running VeraCrypt on the PinePhone. I’m currently installing VeraCrypt on a Windows PC, and the instruction to do this is very detailed. To find a solution for a mobile device, I found that VeraCrypt also runs on Debian and Ubuntu:

Great to have the same comfortable solution on Windows 10 and on a mobile device. This speaks for the PinePhone with VeraCrypt. Veracrypt is not available for Android.

VeraCrypt runs on Ubuntu, Mate is only a desktop environment, I can see no reason why Veracrypt should not run on the PinePhone with Ubuntu and Mate.

Ubuntu touch is a completely different beast to ubuntu. As for mobian pretty sure I saw a post earlier about encrypting partitions.

But Verarcypt is very comfortable to use, has many features, and it is worth testing it for Ubuntu Touch:
