When will 11.6'' pinebook be available?

It is great, but it would be really nice if the hardware were upgraded to something like RockPro with at least 4 GB RAM, 32 GB eMMC, etc. I am sure a lot of people will pay 200 USD, cause the shipping cost is really a big part of price today.

There is still no choice for booking 11" on the official site Smile

Here https://twitter.com/thepine64/status/101...9033936898 they say shipping will start mid-August, I'm not sure if they mean that you will be able to book one at that time  Confused

I just hope I didn't somehow miss the window to get one

So it means that just those pre-ordered Pinebooks will be shipped and no more booking of 11 will be possible?

Apparently no - I've been on the Discord/IRC channel and I've been reassured it the production didn't start yet. There have been delays, but eventually it will be available.

it won't be that power-saving anymore with such a setup. but well, probably it won't fry itself more than x86 laptop processors do. but this "at least" 4GB sounds funny. do you know, that this is the maximum imposed by Rockchip on all their current SoCs? even more, you cannot access all of that, because yes, the whole system space is put into the lower 32 bits and, especially on rk3399, you loose a little of available memory (due to the need for mapping peripherals). Do you know how much it is on rk3399? get ready ... 128MB! of very expensive memory. is wasted. "at least"... first rockchip needs to finally use more than 32 bits for the system space.
ANT - my hobby OS for x86 and ARM.

Ok, I know, 4 GB would be fine. I am sure that any ARM CPU will not fry more than present x86 CPUs.

Is there any more news about when the Pinebooks will be available?

Are they only filling back orders or are they taking all orders from any interested party?  Huh

Sorry on the delay due to more times needed to resume back production. The Pinebook starts taking order from BTO queue on first week of September and starts deliver on third week of September. Due to long BTO queue, we will repeat this process for several months.
Someone will ask why we don't produce enough Pinebook at once, the answer is simple due to cash on hand. The Pinebook profit margin is slim and the build cost is high, and Pine64 is a community (means didn't raise money from investor or loan money from bank), this just allows us to produce a certain quantity Pinebook per batch and the money then recycle back for next batch. Beside cash flow, the Pinebook has lithium ion battery and this means there is a lot of paper work during shipping, this is another reason that limit Pinebook deployment.
