There's no reason why you should ever put something that onto a laptop or tablet unless you everything about life. Windows 10 arm edition will only support the Snapdragon line of SoCs for the near future, so I guess you won't see anything Windows 10'ish with a desktop manager running on a Pine-board for a long time.
actually broadcom & intel, also for core. as far as pine64, they can certainly go it alone to try and implement it and if they pull it off maybe ms give status check. win10 full is a pipe dream currently for any arm.

I received an email on May 13 telling me that I could now purchase my Pinebook 14. I had already stated that I did not want the 14 and wanted the 11.6. I did not purchase the 14. I have heard nothing more since then. By passing on the 14, did my name go to the back of the queue. It sounds like several people have been offered the 14 instead of the 11.6.

I would go for the 14" unit; its well made, and the keyboard layout is good. (yes, I'm saying the 11.6" layout is NOT good) But the 11.6" may not be able to get a display. so...

While I already have have a $100 ARM laptop (Azpen), the Pinebook was appealing because of the dual boot option and the option to upgrade the eMMC. My Azpen runs RemixOS, which I love, but it can't be upgraded or replaced. I purchased 2 Pine A64+ through the kickstarter, and the process was painful, and somewhat disappointing. So, if they drop the 11.6 model I will be disappointed yet again, but not surprised.

It looks just like Pinebook, I see the parameters are also similar.

Just received a response from Pine64 to a question I asked on May 13. Just 6 days shy of a month to get a response. I was told that it would probably be 6 months before the 11.6 machine would be available again. Disappointed again.
it seems like pine64 thought there would be a supplier of low cost , quality, 11,5 lcd panels available in small batches using just in time inventory processes based on off the shelf pre existing components. not sure exactly what 6 months time is gonna do to change the prospects of that method of parts procurement being anything but disappointment and further delay. edit: i wonder if cloud media is experiencing similar delays with screens for the oakbook.

Hello,
The pi-top laptop uses an 18 volt power supply. I'm not an electrical engineer, but it seems that powering a pi-top from a 12 volt power outlet in a car is tricky or impossible. The 5 volt power supply needed for the pine-top, mentioned above, seems much more promising for recharging in a car. Is there an off-the-self adapter that could do that? |
