Be aware, these tests are being executed using an out-of-box testing methodology. All tests are preformed with minimal interaction/setup of devices outside of: OS imaging/updating,  SIM installation, Wifi Configuration,  and Power Cycling the devices.

Conclusion: OS is not Ready for pinephone to be daily driver.


Notes: Random vibration happens every so often. Firefox took over 30 seconds to load this time. Audio/Video on a YouTube video play back of out of sync. That hasn't happened in a while. Phone defaulted to 3G instead of 4G. That was new. Camera is still laggy, UI drags behind (delayed touch response) Seems like we are regressing a bit on this build.

Does the Allwinner A64 used in the PinePhone have a hardware random number generator, or do Linux users have to rely solely on the Linux kernel's pseudo-random rng?

This is good news. I was looking for a long time for an affordable mobile EEG platform, but I failed. Matlab cannot run on ARM processors, OpenSignals cannot run on ARM processors, but OpenBCI with his GUI v5.


There can be found OpenBCI EEG cable version devices for eight channels in the web for about 200 USD, I suppose they are cloned devices, since OpenBCI says there is no cable version:

Anyone know the starting password for phablet?

Just got my pinetab in. Impressed wtih how its working on mobian. The only issues I've come across are a) audio not working. I've tried with pavucontrol and alsamixer (with the card selected, not the fake pulseaudio device) but nothing in the output chain is muted. b) bluetooth is not working, firmware is there but it never gets loaded.

I just played a little with media. Stock UT.

Speakers are super quiet even fully cranked up.

Headphone does not auto-switch on insertion. At first I thought this maybe a software issue where I simply couldn't find the setting to change it, then I looked more closely at the ports on the side. I an not convinced the audio jack is physically able to fully seat due to thickness of case and deep set port surface.

I'm not yet prepared to pop the cover off and try it on bare PCB (no spudger, sadly.) If nobody steps forward to try in the next few days, I'll try myself and report back.

Does anyone know of a way to turn off notifications from individual apps? Turning them off in the phone's settings menu doesn't work, and many apps don't have settings to turn off their notifications. Geary is the main problem for me - I really don't want a notification every time a new email comes in, especially since you can't dismiss them from the notifications pane without actually opening the app. I've tried using dconf Editor but changing the two settings for Geary related to notifications doesn't seem to do anything. I also checked the config file for Geary, but it doesn't have anything about notifications.

There's probably a way to turn off notifications globally, but I DO want to get notifications for calendar events, so I don't want to go this route. Any help from someone who knows how to turn off specific app notifications would be much appreciated!

I recently got my pinebookpro. I've had a small issue however. The mouse seems to drift a little when I use the trackpad. Is there a setting I can change to stop this?

I tried several ways to put the sim card in the l lower slot. 
First, I pushed it all the way in and as a result the card almost completely disappeared in the slot, but the phone didn't recognise it. It was very difficult to take it out, I had to use a needle to force it out. It took me quite some time to take it out. I am afraid I damage the simcard. 
What is the proper way of putting the simcard in the slot?
