Hardware Testing Tools Query

Hi All, 
I'm just wondering if there are any software-based hardware testing tools available to verify that all pinephone hardware components are performing correctly?

I just received my pmOS pinephone; every feature I've tested works so far except for the earpiece during phone calls (i only get an unintelligible buzzing noise when the other person speaks).  Overall I'm very impressed with the pinephone's capabilities but I'm concerned about the possibility of this being a hardware fault rather than a software issue so I would like to rule out that possibility to put my mind at ease.

Update:
Okay my bad; the earpiece speaker hardware itself is working perfectly - turns out there's a 'test ear speaker' option in the sound section of settings that I somehow managed to completely miss *facepalms*.

Still, if hardware testing tools are available (or will become available at some point), that would be good to know for future reference.
