  Pinetab attachable keyboard
Posted by: fritz - 09-14-2020, 07:30 AM - Forum: PineTab Hardware - Replies (7)

I am using Mobian and some users over at Discord chat were able to get the trackpad working for me and I am thrilled!. I am wondering if I am having a settings issue that aren’t allowing me to use any of the keys on the keyboard. I know some users had an easier time and if you can share settings maybe that can help. I would be thankful for any help.

Mobian on SD Card or Flashed To eMMC For Better Functionality . . .
Posted by: NobodyNew1 - 09-14-2020, 07:03 AM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (3)

Hello,
I have the PMOS edition and feel somewhat loyal to them, bc their name and logo is on the back of my phone. The problem is I find myself playing with Mobian 90% of the time. When I make calls, Mobian booted from an SD, people say they can hear me but not that clear. I'm curious would a difference be made if I were to flash Mobian directly onto the phone and not use it through the SD Card ? Or does it really not matter the phone will behave as it does either way.

Use the PinePhone as a Linux mini PC?
Posted by: Peter Gamma - 09-14-2020, 05:14 AM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (14)

I was checking Windows and Liunx mini PCs, and I ended up with the PinePhone as the most interesting device for this. It has a small form factor and is affordable. Although it is not designed for this purpose, is it not possible to modify it for this purpose?

I m facing the problem for a mobile EEG device. EEG sensor streaming over Bluetooth can only stream ca 4 channels at a high quality level due to bandwidth limitations of Bluetooth. Wifi streaming costs a lot of energy, and is not so interesting for mobile use. Better is a cable connection. But then the cable distance has to be kept short, to avoid too much cabling. Assuming an EEG device with 32 channels. This gives 32 cables.

The development of EEG devices for mobile use is not very advanced. There is no convincing solution yet. Any ideas?

  Pinebook pro Ansi for sale
Posted by: fpex73 - 09-14-2020, 12:03 AM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinebook Pro - Replies (13)

Rarely used and in perfect condition.
I sell it because in the end I made myself a new desktop and I now use the laptop I was using as desktop as laptop and my kids cannot use it because of the QWERTY keyboard :-(

I am in Belgium but can ship everywhere in Europe, at receiver risk.

Make a fair offer.

Desktop Entry icon not appearing: how to diagnose?
Posted by: Saliency - 09-13-2020, 10:30 PM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - Replies (6)

Hi,

I am trying to get icons to appear in the launcher, but none are appearing given my desktop entry files in .local/share/applications.

Is there any way to diagnose what the problem is?  Any way to see some error messages or logs?

  Security Based OS ?
Posted by: NobodyNew1 - 09-13-2020, 08:55 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (4)

Hello,
Does anyone think there will be a security type of OS built for the pinephone, like a Graphene but for the phinephone ? I'm sort of into that type of stuff and figure the phonephone would be a great platform to build something like that on.I could be wrong, and maybe I'm dreaming of something that can't or won't be created.

Any thought on what impact if any the acquisition of arm by Nvidia will have on the community?

I just recorded 9 hours of audio overnight using a USB soundcard only to find it was mostly power supply trash.  This didn't happen on batteries.

I'm scratching my head thinking my microphone preamp had started oscillating, then I realized it was hum.  But not normal 60 or 120 hz hum, this is from a switchmode power supply.  I suppose you could argue that the USB sound card should have better filtering since it's trying to do analog stuff in a digital world, but it just assumes the USB power is clean.  Is there an obligation to provide clean power?  The preamps are battery powered still, it's getting picked up in the sound card.  Which is a $10 cheapie from Aliexpress.  I do have a better one I could try.

OK, with my StarTech USB sound card some of the high frequency stuff is filtered out, it sounds more like 120 hz hum, which of course it isn't.  It's like there's some capacitance there but only enough to take out the high frequencies.

I'm recording with sox and having it normalize the level so the hum becomes most of the signal I recorded.

Just guessing, if you settled for running the soundcard internals on about 4.5 volts instead of 5.0, you could use a PNP pass transistor in linear mode with some active filtering to clean that up. You pull the base of a PNP down to make it conduct so it has less overhead than an NPN. An old LM723 chip has quite good active filtering if you use a few stages of pass transistors to provide current gain. I don't have a spare one of those barrel plugs though.
