Swimming/water resistance |

I'm curious whether it would theoretically be possible to use the PineTime as a swim watch. I understand it is "only" IP-67, which implies 30min at 1m, as per the standard. Does anyone use it and swim regularly? Programming a swim app (I only ever use lap counting) would be a challenge, but of course requires the hardware to support the environment first.

Can't get Mobian on PinePhone to recognise USB-C docking bar |

Hi Folks
I recently purchased a USB-C docking bar and a new convergence-capable PinePhone motherboard, and fitted the new motherboard last weekend. The Braveheart owner's discount was much appreciated too
I'm running the Mobian nightly build from 2021-05-02.
When I plug in the USB-C docking bar, it just charges the phone; no peripherals are detected (I have a keyboard, monitor, and trackball connected to the bar). Instead I get the following in dmesg:
Code: [ 494.616801] anx7688 1-0028: DATA role change requested to UFP
I've tried upgrading to the linux-image-5.11-sunxi64 kernel, and flashing the ANX7688 firmware as per these instructions, but to no avail.
Anyone have any suggestions? I suspect I'm missing something blindingly obvious.
Yours,
Duncan

Hello,
I went to install a sata nvme drive in my pbp. I pre flashed it with twister os.
Before installing I booted into an sd card image and formatted the emmc to ext4, with the drive label storage.
After installation, it does not boot from, ssd, or sd, also there is nothing on the emmc.
I tried removing the emmc and ssd, to boot from the micro sd, but it does not work.
The cpu warms up as if it is turning on.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Just received my new Pinephone this morning. The 3GB convergence edition. There's obvious issues right out of the gate but I'm glad to be part of the process. I want to thank everyone involved for keeping the thrill of open source alive.

Hello all,
New to the community, so thought I’d just so hello…
I don’t like computers much and really hate smartphones… so buying a Pinephone BE is probably not the advice most of you would give. However, that is what I have done.
Much of the info about the Pinephone warns that it is a work-in-progress and not a good choice for a “Daily Driver”, so for someone who doesn't get on with apps and maps, you must be wondering why I would want one?… well, the answer is simple – Linux!
After years of working with MS systems at work and Apple systems at home, I have recently discovered the wonders of the Linux kernel and all its many flavors of operating systems – via the accidental purchasing of a Raspberry Pi… long story, wont get into it now – and now I’m hooked.
In the short time that I have been using Linux, I have learned more about computers than I have in the last 30 years of working with them, as my job involves the need to convert 8-bit, hex code over RS485 networks into HTML readable data… and only now does it all make sense.
With my limited knowledge, I may be biting off more than I can chew with the Pinephone, but I’m willing to give it a go, as all I need for a daily driver is the ability to make and receive phone calls and SMS messages, a note pad with a spell checker, a calculator, a torch, a camera and at a push, a web browser…
Wish me luck...

As required by Pine64 technical support I am posting to see if anyone else has this problem and a solution. Ticket ##9675##
Quote: Please be inform you are require to post your question at PINE64 forum, http://forum.pine64.org and there is forum user that has same experience and provide answer to you.
Thank you.
Regards,
support team #4...
I am having random lockups that freeze the phone for 5-10 minutes at a time. In dmesg there are rcu errors that correspond to these lockups.
Occasionally the time will jump to 2116, sometimes the phone will freeze until a power cycle, or reboot itself. This happens 2-3 times a day.
Here are the errors from Manjaro Phosh. https://gist.github.com/8bitgc/84a68844c...1107-L1244
I have also tried Mobian with similar results.
Pine64 tech support had me try Manjaro Plasma. I have similar results. https://gist.github.com/8bitgc/691edf69b...-L502-L855
Someone with similar issues https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=10354
It is not a timezone problem. I have mine manually set. If your timezone were off, the most you should get is 1 day off, not ~100 years.
Another time traveler https://social.librem.one/@chrichri/105179322289326690
I suspect this is a hardware problem as I have another PinePhone that does not do this, running from the same Manjaro Phosh SD card.
There is a problem with the A64 SOC https://forum.armbian.com/topic/7423-pin...k-problem/
There are kernel patches to try to workaround the timer issue, but I suspect that some A64 SOC are especially out of spec. Otherwise everyone would be having these issues

New phone - has issues? |

Hi.
Received the phone a few days ago. Set up and updated first time.
Battery only charges to 85% no matter what and then system shows this fluctuating wildly during use so not reliable. I understand some think this normal. I do not.
Now, after updating I cannot get into the phone. I enter my pin to unlock, it let's me into the app I had open, calendar for example, the screen flashes quickly, and then goes blank before returning to the lock screen. Repeat to fade. Even after hard restart holding power button. I am no Linux code king but this and the general sluggishness of the phone lead me to believe its flawed.
Can anyone offer guidance? I'm prepared to put up with a device that's slightly slower than I'm used to but this seems excessive and with the loop it seems stuck on, unusable.
I also wonder if anyone can advise what sort of experience, speed wise, I should expect? I have taken videos and can upload if it helps. Should I contact support to return? Thanks for any help. J.
Update - installed Manjaro Phosh on SD card and booted from that. Experience is infinitely better and as expected really so must be an OS install issue from the factory process. As soon as I get the OK from support to flash new OS I will.
So, question is: Manjaro phosh, Mobian or Sailfish?
