OpenMediaVault: link from wiki or Armbian?
Posted by: Goffi - 02-10-2022, 03:57 AM - Forum: Linux on RockPro64 - No Replies

Hello,

I've got a RockPro64 with NAS case, and I'm willing to use it mainly as a NAS. OpenMediaVault seems the logical option, and the wiki link to a github repository (https://github.com/ayufan-rock64/linux-build) which seems interesting but maintained by a single person and which has not seen any update since last summer.

While I appreciate the work done, I think that Armbian with OpenMediaVault installed above it seems a more future-proof option. Armbian offers latest Debian/Ubuntu released (I'll most probably go with Debian), and I see that video and 3D acceleration are available (the NAS will be placed next to video projector, so it will be useful).

Thus I would like some feedback: is there any drawback to use Armbian directly for OMV, is there any reason to use the repository linked in the wiki instead?

Thanks!

I want to try my hand at building an kernel for a PinePhone Pro and I was wondering if someone can help me with documentation manuals for the hardware. I've found the schematic on the wiki but I would like to find software reference manuals for the different hardware pieces and documentation about the firmware on the phone(at least the requirements for making the emmc/sd card recognizable as a boot device).

Possible HW Transcode with Media Server and Docker
Posted by: dperrigo18 - 02-10-2022, 02:37 AM - Forum: General Discussion on ROCKPRO64 - No Replies

I plan to run this as a docker machine with Jellyfin and before I by it I was wondering what the support was like with the gpu and transcoding.

Looking into the GPU it looks like it supports all of the encoding and decoding of most types but I couldn't find it works with Jellyfin or anything about the performance of it like how many videos at one time, ect....

Thanks.

sharing mobile data through usb tethering

Hello,

I am able to connect to the pinephone through USB from my laptop, but then I have no internet connexion
from my laptop.

The mobile data on the pinephone is enabled. Within a ssh session I can ping google as an example.

What am i missing ?

Also, I noticed that my FAI is only giving me an ipv6 address :

Code:

Sudo rm /var/lib/pacman/db.lck -- keeps being needed

The command in the title above removes a file that keeps pacman from running updates.  Question is what is causing this to keep setting over and over and how to prevent it occurring.

I have used this several times but the lock keeps coming back.  Why???

"Pine64 USB JTAG Adapter + OpenOCD + PineTime" should it work?
Posted by: ITCactus - 02-09-2022, 09:01 AM - Forum: Development Discussion on PineTime - Replies (4)

as a beginner, a looked at "PineTime Devkit Wiring" tutorial,
and decided to order the Pine64 USB JTAG Adapter (schematic) alongside with PineTime dev kit to play with it...

but then i realized, that it's not a ST-Link clone...
also, i had to play additionally with drivers using "Zadig" app on Windows.

i'm trying to make it work with OpenOCD, and so far no luck with

Code:
.\openocd.exe -f interface/ftdi/ft232h-module-swd.cfg -f target/nrf52.cfg

Quote:Open On-Chip Debugger 0.11.0 (2021-03-07-12:52)
Licensed under GNU GPL v2
For bug reports, read
        http://openocd.org/doc/doxygen/bugs.html
Info : FTDI SWD mode enabled
swd
Info : Listening on port 6666 for tcl connections
Info : Listening on port 4444 for telnet connections
Info : clock speed 1000 kHz
Error: Error connecting DP: cannot read IDR

long story short, has anyone tried this?
is it supposed to work at all?

Big Grin Installed Arch Phosh On Btrfs Root
Posted by: kaida - 02-08-2022, 09:25 PM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Software - Replies (6)

I successfully succeeded in having My Root filesystem use Btrfs , next step is to play with snapper
[Image: Btrfs-pinephone-Pro.jpg]

Will soon post a guide on how to , for those wanting to know / try

but basically goes as follow :

Started by flashing an image of arch phosh

backed up the filesystem in a tar

setting up an ext4 boot partition and the Btrfs partition and subvolumes

extracting the fs from the tar back into the mounted btrfs layout

added some arguments to boot.txt inside /boot ( extraargs=rootflags=subvol=@ rootfstype=btrfs ) to the setenv line

regenerated a boot.scr with mkimage

fixed fstab with uuid
