| Set Static IP |

I know this just me being a bonehead, but I can't figure out how to set a static IP on the Pine64. I managed to set the address once with no problems, but after I re-imaged the sd card and tried to set the address the next couple of times, I managed to screw it up so badly that I had to re-image the sd card after each attempt.
I tried a couple of ways that failed (I can't remember what I did the first successful time):
Edited /etc/network/interfaces
Added these lines:
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.1.206
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.1
This didn't work.
Then I noticed a strange (to me) lines in the interfaces file:
# interfaces(5) file used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8)
# Include files from /etc/network/interfaces.d:
source-directory /etc/network/interfaces.d
So I edited the eth0 file in interfaces.d and added the lines above to it.
Didn't work either.
Anyone have an idea on what I am doing wrong?
Thanks.

I just stood up a simple Samba server on my Pine64, configured the same as my existing Pi2 server. I tested it using a robocopy backup script with a set of sample files. Here are the details:
Files:
1 ripped dvd
1000+ epub books
Miscellaneous small files
Configuration:
Pi 2 model B
WD Red 3tb drive
Sabrent USB3.0 enclosure
Pine64 2mb
WD Red 3tb drive
Sabrent USB3.0 enclosure
Quick results:
Pi2

I also then deleted test files, and the Pine64 won easily.

This is just what I was hoping for. Now to install DokuWiki and see how it compares to the Pi.

Hi i have a problem whit start up
i use the "NEW Ubuntu Pine64 ML-Anderal.img" that i download from Wiki
Then i format the SD card to standard size so its nothing left on it
After that i burn it to the sd card whit win32diskimager
Then i plug the sd-card in to the pine and plugg in the HDMI then i use a 5V 2A powersuplie and get the red power led on and i only get "no signal" on my screen
I have The PINE A64+ (1.2Ghz board and 1GB SDRAM)
Do some one have a ide on what my problem can be?

This may be a bit of a n00b question.....
I was trying to install chromium but apt-get fails to locate a package, but I can in the Debian Jessie package list that there is an ARM variant of Chromium available.
Do I need to add a new source to pick that up?
Thanks!

Has anyone gotten a 3rd party wifi adapter to work yet with Debian or Ubuntu? I have tried ad TPlink TL-W722N (AR9271 based) and a non name RT5370 based and despite pulling their respective firmware libraries from non-free I am not having much luck. I have to assume it is because neither the adapters modules are included? Any thoughts or insite?

| Debian kernel upgrade question |

Hi,
My Pine is on its way and so I am thinking more about managing the platform. I have already copied the image to my SDCard and so it is ready for the board's arrival. However, the next question is ongoing maintenance. Once I get it up and running, how do I ensure that I have the latest kernal and how do I upgrade it? Historically, I have used apt-get package management but am not sure if that will work upgrading a Pine64 kernel.
Naturally, downloading and flashing a new image file won't work because it will require me to rebuild the applications and related configurations. Hence my question, once you have a running Pine64 Debian system, what is the easiest way to maintain the Kernel to assure that you have Longsleep's latest patches and general improvements?
Thank you in advance for any perspectives.

Hi,
I just received a shipping confirmation on my Pine64 on Friday. Yay! I am excited for its arrival but am not sure about the timing. Does anyone have any real world experience about how long it takes for a shipment to arrive after confirmation? I am based on the east coast of the US and have tried USPS tracking and they have no record of the shipment. This is not problematic because they usually don't until the package arrives in the US.
On a side note, I ordered another Kickstarter product that took 4 weeks from China and so I am not sure if this shipping is similar. I hope note but am hoping for guidance so I can set my expectations appropriately.
Thank you!

[edit 3] Think I traced the problem to ehci --- does anyone know how to disable it in the kernel ?
Hello
I connected an external usb3 hdd to the Pine64 (formated ext4) and it cannot see it. I have tried fdisk -l and nothing.
Any suggestions would be very welcome.
Cheers !
Luke
[edit] Dont know if this helps but the the bus with the drive connected returns no id:
Bus 002 Device 125: ID 2537:1066
[edit 2] I did "dmesg | more" to see if the drive is throwing out any errors and, as it turns out, it keeps connecting and disconnecting. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this ?
Here is tiny fraction of the output im getting:
