  Actual schematics for the pinebook?
Posted by: daid - 08-04-2017, 08:53 AM - Forum: Pinebook Hardware and Accessories - Replies (5)

On the pinebook resources page:
https://www.pine64.org/?page_id=5734

There are schematics listed. However, these schematics don't seem to match the actual hardware, and thus are quite useless.

Are the actual schematics known?

  USB-port powering & CEC support
Posted by: gonzo - 08-04-2017, 03:42 AM - Forum: General Discussion on ROCK64 - Replies (7)

Hello everyone! where i can get the Information if it’s possible to power up/down the USB-ports seperately?
I' m not sure if the information under the storage section at http://wiki.pine64.org/index.php/ROCK64_Main_Page :

  • 1 USB3.0 Dedicated Host port
  • 2 USB2.0 Dedicated Host port (one of them is USB-OTG)
mean what i wish they do Huh .
I’m looking forward to buy this board and use it as kind of all-in-one-device (router, wifi ac with USB wifi dongle,
kodi 4k video player, pi-hole-like ad-filter and something like a NAS. For this reason i need to know if i can power
an external USB 2.0 or 3.0 harddrive on demand only for example for a scheduled backup-task. Afterwards i wish to cut the power thus the hard drive don’t has to run all the time unlike the board itself (which should run 24/7). Also it would nice to know which commands are used to enable USB Powering ON/OFF for each USB-port

My 2nd question: Is the rock64 media board fully supported with CEC controls using Linux Distributions?

Thanks in advance Wink

Pine64 corp when will you have Ubuntu linux ready?

You promised I think in one of the videos a demonstration of Linux on pine64. It would be good to see it now, especially since the delays.

I wonder if it is possible to get the whole parts of a pinebook 11 to assembly it by myself.

- Why?

Just for fun of make things!

Thanks for reading me.

  Video noise on new Pinebook
Posted by: chrisb - 08-03-2017, 12:26 PM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinebook - Replies (15)

After booting my newly delivered Pinebook up for the first time today, I noticed quite a bit of noise on the display. There seem to be randomly flashing pixels on the display that are most noticeable against a blue background. I'd almost describe it as sort of sparkle or shimmer effect. I tried to capture the effect on video which was a bit tricky. I searched a bit and didn't seem to find any other topic with this issue. They appear to be flashing randomly, it doesn't seem like it is the same set of pixels repeatedly. Any ideas for how I might try to fix this? Thanks much!

pinebook won't power up or charge
Posted by: eclay - 08-03-2017, 11:15 AM - Forum: Pinebook Hardware and Accessories - Replies (5)

Hello,  I don't use my pinebook often so it seems like after a few days of non use the batteries loose there charge and usually I can just plug it in for a few hours and get it to power on.  This time I've left it plugged in for 2 hours + and I still am unable to get any indication that it's ever charging.  I've held the power button down for several seconds, which usually will turn the green power light on and if it can't boot it will show a battery charging icon on the screen.  I'm not sure when/how but there is a little light next to the power port that turns on.  It's not turned on.  The last time I charged this unit the plastic on the case above the power port would get very hot.  I'm also using the power adapter that came with the pinebook.  Is there something else I can try or is this thing toast?

  Hulu and location
Posted by: Dagur - 08-03-2017, 04:07 AM - Forum: Android on Pine A64(+) - Replies (2)

Hi

I'm trying to use the Hulu app but when it starts up it tries to find my location and fails every time (doesn't matter what my location settings are, I just get "unknown location").

I tried two different location spoofing apps but they don't seem to work (I tried both the android 6 and 7 images).

Is anyone here using this app?

  Ship date question
Posted by: jl_678 - 08-02-2017, 05:28 AM - Forum: General Discussion on ROCK64 - Replies (65)

So the Rock64 initially indicated a ship date of 7/31.  Has anyonr actually received shipping confirmation?

The date has now moved to 8/30, and I am trying to understand if this is a slippage of all ship dates or if this relates to new orders and that previous orders were still shipping on or near 7/31.  In case it matters, I ordered on 7/14 and have not seen any shipping confirmation information.

Thank you!

Question HELP Ubuntu Mate password recovery procedure
Posted by: Captain Anni Hilator - 08-01-2017, 08:31 AM - Forum: Ubuntu - Replies (5)

Greetings from a Pine64 Ubuntu Mate newbie!

I have set up Ubuntu Mate on a Pine64 2GB a month ago to "not ask password at login". The problem now is I somehow have forgotten the password for root and I cannot do updates and upgrades, installation/removal/purge of packages.

Tried some web searches for recovering the root password (pressing "shift" or "Cntrl" at bootup to access GRUB) but those procedures presented were not applicable for Pine64 Ubuntu Mate (cannot access GRUB).

If there is a better recovery procedure, I (and probably a lot of others) will be more than happy follow it so that I can recover/reset the password.

As of now I can still access/use my Ubuntu Mate as a Linux desktop, but would like to start updating it to the latest available updates/upgrades.

Many thanks!
