Latest firmware for PinePhone modem!
#41
I flashed the new modem firmware 01.003.01.003. last Friday and tested it
with the latest Mobian image including the new eg25-driver.

My impression is the modem doesn't get as warm as before (only hand warm).
After 13 hours of standby, my phone showed a capacity of 70% battery left.

Incoming phone calls do work since last Saturday:
notification LED (blue) at once
WIFI at the first dial tone
GSM/LTE between second and third dial tone (same without WIFI)
Standby overnight: GSM/LTE after the fourth dial tone

In my eyes, this is a great christmas present. Big Grin

Cool, good to hear this new firmware works so well! Smile Can I ask where you got this latest version from? I've browsed this thread but couldn't find any source for it. Perhaps I missed something?

@p1x3l3d - it is in the first post of this thread, but the links are easy to miss as they are just in the middle of sentences. Worked well for me too.

I'm only seeing the links to 01.002.01.002 from June, not a more recent 01.003.01.003.

The incoming calls still work like described above; 3-4 dial tones before the pinephone rings.

"Linux 5.10 also boasts faster hibernate and resume functions (where supported) due to batching of I/O requests."

I did update to 01.003.01.003 without any problems too. However I don't see/feel any change (and modem functionality has not been affected in any way, so everything works too).

From my observations, the area around modem is still more warm with Mobian when compared to pmOS.

Updated the firmware I think successfully (SMS and Internet work) using the github above 01.003.01.003 branch.
The modem is reporting the same version.

However I have lost the ability to to call (use calls app)
I have posted this here

and then realized that was the incorrect thread and I should have posted here.

Note I've corrected post #34 (https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?...8#pid85368)
as AT+CFUN=1,1 actually sets full phone functionality AND resets ME (presume to defaults).
I don't believe this is needed, if anything AT+CFUN=1,0 (without the reset).
You can check the actual value using AT+CFUN?

Incoming calls ring for me, outgoing works but my MVNO does not support VoLTE.
Pinephone v1.2 UBports CE. Adelaide, Australia using Amaysim SIM (Optus network, VoLTE enabled) with Mobian SD card. VoLTE working also with Felix / Vodafone AU and Aldimobile / Telstra AU.
Manjaro Plasma Mobile on EMMC.

any news on the “easy installer” for the modem firmware update?

Could this be related?

I am eagerly to get new modem software as would like to really start using Pinephone as daily driver.

In general it is so nice to watch how quickly all areas of are advancing so fast!

I thought https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=13001 sounded like it? Don't think that's related, but can't wait for it to get applied to Mobian, assuming it works with no issues.
