Shortly before the battery totally drained, it would try to power on for a couple of seconds, then turn off.

Tried multiple cables & charging devices. I figure that even if the battery is having issues, with being plugged in it would still power up. Maybe trouble with the usb-c port or something else? Any ideas?

Using accompanied UART dongle and check whether their is console message.

Tried the uart, cannot get it to boot.

I have a similar problem with my Pinetab2. The I've tried several charging cables, and I'm plugging into the USB-C/PD port, but it no longer will turn on after months of working perfectly. I obtained a UART, but this is not helpful if the Pinetab2 does not turn on at all. It is as if the battery died. If anyone has a suggestion I would welcome it, as I saw in another post that Pine64 has no intention of selling replacement batteries for the PineTab2. I would hate to think that this is bricked already.

My pinetab2 didn't start. The screen was always black. I charged it one night.
I created an sdcard with latest image (https://pine64.org/documentation/PineTab...tructions/). I inserted it in the micro sdcard port, pressed the power button and the screen turned on. I reinstalled the whole system. It erases all data but now it works again.

this is a universal Li-ion and Lipo battery issue, the charging circuit decides your battery is undervolted and is now perma-dead.
Best case is to have a Li-ion charging circuit board fed by USB power and let the cell slow charge for a few hours shaped by the charging board's IC.
For emergency purposes though a Li-Ion cell is rated to take 5v just strip-off a USB cable and clip/solder into the battery circuit(verify polarity via multimeter to avoid reversing and ruining/exploding cell) and run 5v for a few minutes, reassemble and boot with power USB cable attached to continue charging; repeat if the cell needs more charging to get to booting voltage(between 3v and 3.5 I think).
