How to use original PINEBOOK Pro USB-C Docking Deck with my PBP?
#1
Hello everyone!

One year ago I ordered and got my PBP and original USB-C Docking Deck from PINE64 store. I never tried to connect any displays via docking deck to my PBP until this moment, Ethernet too. Now I tried to connect and can't get the image from PBP and can't configure working ethernet profile. Charging, storages is working. But HDMI and Ethernet are not (link leds blinks). Please give me advise (or share the link to guide) how to work with decking dock in a case of HDMI and Ethernet (how to configure it out). Thank you.

OS - Manjaro

UPD - hdmi of docking deck works with macbook (via thunderbolt port), Ethernet doesn't work.

As for HDMI you might have more luck in Manjaro if you install `linux-pinebookpro` package and use it as your kernel. Note that it's "frozen" at 5.7 so quite dated by now. Mainline Linux support for fusb302 USB-C controller found in Pinebook Pro is lacking, especially when it comes to driving displays. In short with mainline Linux you can't use external displays whatsoever. With some patches (dropped from Manjaro with kernel 5.18) you can use USB-C <-> DisplayPort cables but not HDMI. Back in the day there were hacks that made HDMI display work but they've stopped working with kernel 5.8. As far as I know no one is working on improving the situation so don't expect it to change anytime soon.
