Well, in my case, I decided I wanted one anyway, no matter when. So I went ahead and pulled the trigger. That was around the time of my OP, as I recall. Not long after, it shipped. And it got here already a while ago. Shipping only took a couple weeks as I recall, I was (pleasantly) surprised how fast it actually got here (Eastern US) in my case.
Now, of course this does not mean the situation have not changed in the meantime.
I have also been following the blogs and announcements, and it seems to me like more accurate updates of in-stock status seems to be something that is a current priority for them to be working on, as apparently they receive tons of emails and other communication asking about availability.
