Booting - User device selection in U-Boot?

@xyzzy, Yes, their are many things that can be improved. My initial thread was about getting boot device and kernel selection, both of which are now available on that experimental branch of U-Boot. (Which is partly main-line U-Boot, so it will work its way done to most distros.)

Please start a new thread for discussing those other features.

I am locking this thread as it is both solved and going off the original topic.
