Are there any plans to produce a Pinebook with a different chip? Like the Rockchip RK3399?
It seems to have some advantages over the Allwinner A54.
The RK3399 has 2 extra cores, so it has 2x Cortex-A72 cores @ 2GHz, and 4x Cortex-A53 cores @ 1.5GHz, also it has support for up to 4GB of RAM instead of 2GB, has a faster GPU, and 2 real PCIe lanes so it is possible to add faster SSD storage, use an LTE card, or just add more user expansion options...
I would even be willing to pay $40 more just for a faster ARM CPU and more RAM...
I could add a 128GB eMMC, and a 256GB SD card and it could even replace my aging Core 2 Duo laptop...
It is an idea that has been thrown around more than a few times I think it is in the pipeline, depending on how well the rock64pro, etc takes off, and how much demand there is for a rk upgrade to the pinebook. So stay tuned... it could very well happen!
