Every time I've ever tried to update arch (Manjaru) after a long period of no updating, it ends up "soft-bricked".
Until you have a working system, pressing the start button will not give you obvious results, unless you notice the temperature of the SOC. (Hot, running, cold, not running). The power light is software driven.
I just did a bunch of this myself last month. I accidentally bricked the computer. My solution was to open up the computer, toggle the switch that changes the boot order, then I installed armbian from an sd card. None of this went as planned and I spent an entire day working with chatgpt to get the boot right because armbian messed that up. Eventually I got there and now the computer boots.
First note: if you do open the computer, go easy, the speakers are on the lid and I ripped one of the wires.
Second note: the AI is dumb as bricks, but if you ask the right questions you can get there.
I would give more details, but frankly it was a slog, mostly because armbian chocked on me. Maybe there was a different distro I could have used.
