Evidently that first move to flash the emmc that failed was the culprit. tow boot must have a functional OS on the emmc to work properly. I went back and ran manjaro phosh of the SD, downloaded it on the phone, expanded it, ran dd to write to emmc and now tow-boot works. At least it is not rebooting and I am able to connect it to the computer via usb and and currently flashing directly.
Thats interesting, also THANK YOU, also wtf tow-boot?? I've been trying to figure out whats going on for 3 days as my phone wont let me do anything but SD boot. ive been TRYING to use tow-boot to flash the emmc from clean but apparently thats not an option. But after booting postmarket and writing itself to itself, seems good. i feel like requiring a good emmc to flash emmc is a bit of an oversight..
in pinephone regular, tow-boot is installed on internal memory emmc.
in pp pro, tow-boot is installed on spi memory, which is separate from both emmc and sdcard.
hence, regular and pro have different installers. and my guess is that boot code is also sightly different.
do you have tow-boot in emmc mem in pp pro !?
