Is a new NVMe-Controller already being shipped?
#1
Hello,

I have read the threads and some people claimed to have been getting the new version of the NVMe-Controller, but there has been no official announcement.
If I order now, will I get the old version or the fixed new version?

Yes, the new board revision is available and being sold. Some people have already gotten it. The official announcement was made in the February Community Update blog post.

Has anybody who sent an email as specified in the news post received anything yet? I don't even have an answer confirming that my email arrived at all...

Not yet, but it give it some time. All departments of operation are crippled right now. Pine is probably focusing first on getting out backlog orders from during CNY.

That's what I figured, I'm just a bit annoyed at not getting at least a reply that my messsage has been received. It wouldn't be the first time an email I sent didn't actually arrive.

Support team currently sorting out the reply. Totally there are 120 emails received and this NVMe installation issue only affected the first 100 set of  Pinebook Pro buyer who also purchase NVMe card. Please check the attached photo, if you have the left taller holder, then we needs to ship you the new holder. If you already have the shorter holder (on the right), you should be OK and we will NOT ship you another holder.

I think I already have the new standoff. I attached an image. Sorry if it's a bit blurry. The phone camera is lacking in the resolution department.

I'll check it out when I get home today. Is that really the only difference though? I've seen photos of two different PCBs for the NVMe and I definitely have the older one of those...

The board is different (thinner) and the cable's been fixed to align correctly. I think what @tllim was saying concerning the holder, is that they're checking against the older orders to determine if they need to send the clip/holder/retainer with the new board. So if you already have the thinner one, the retainer would not be included with your new adapter.
