Android 5.1.1 TV (old-stable, no longer maintained)

If you need Gapps on 5.1, you can sideload them from OpenGapps.org.

But we can't use OpenGApps without a working recovery. Nether the 5.1.1 or 7.0 non-tv releases appear to have a working one. If I modify uEnv.txt to use ramdisk-recovery.img I just get a black screen on both. That means no gapps on 5.1.1 and we can't fix the lack of root on 7.0 Sad

I hope you're able to fix either this or the 7.0 release, working gapps and root is pretty important to most people.
OK, sorted it in the end! Big Grin

You can install Open GApps without a recovery using FlashFire. The Google one-time setup didn't trigger for me after installation, but it does if you manually format the data partition afterwards using GParted. No Google Play authentication problems this way either, unlike PINE's own version of 5.1.

You can't. It requires google approved device. Pine is not such device.

Crap. I'll use it without cast ! Great development anyway ! Smile
Regarding hevc / h.265:
10bit files, yuv420p10le(tv) files are not playing.
I am able to play yuv420p(tv) encoded h.265 files just fine.

is yuv420p10le(tv) not supported in the hardware?

Thanks!

I have 4 orange pi's that have the H3 chip as well as 2 pine64's.  It's my understanding that they used the work done on the H3 chips to get the pine64's working.  If that is true then 10 bit HEVC will not be working because it is not supported by the H3 chips.

The 10bit HEVC not support in hardware on Allwinner A64 and H3 SoC.
