Putting my screen on TV
#1
Pinebook Pro Manjaro Plasma 5.22.5 Kernel 5.14.2-1

Has anyone been able to Share their PBP screen onto their TV ?

If you have any ideas on how to implement this it would be helpful. I found the PBP to be a very handy laptop for many personal uses cases.
Manjaro have done an excellent job at maximising our use of this hardware. Most features are working and the system is very stable. Personally I would love a bit more speed, but it works well as is.

When I googled this subject I found a mixed bag of ideas. Gnome desktop seems to have this feature, while Plasma does not. Alternatively would something like a Google Chromecast work? Any ideas ?

In the case of Manjaro, iirc, you just need to install the package 'linux-pinebookpro", reboot, and be sure that your USB-C>HDMI cable/device is alt mode DP compatible. There's a page in the wiki for accessories verified working by the community to give you a head start on what to look for.

I had some small hope that there was a way to CAST to a SmartTV.  Is that, perhaps, unrealistic?

Thanks, Manjaro is wanting to remove Kernel 5.14 and replace it with 5.7 to install linux-pinebookpro - so just for the moment I will delay. Also need to check the wiki. What does this package enable on the PBP?

that is a custom kernel package for the pbp that enabled video output through the usb-c port, along with a few other things. the maintains or repos of Manjaro will likely have a better description of all differences between linux-pinebookpro and mainline kernel packages

I just tested and Chromium on a Pinebook Pro can cast to a Chromecast.
But it means you are limited to what Chromium can display.

Are you casting the whole tab? If so, it means you can ask chromium to cast the desktop as well and effectively you got screen mirroring.
