Black screen by start up

I wasn't clear, I am booting with an sd card in place. Since the problem seemed to be because I had screwed up the nmcli configuration every time the boot got to the point of establishing the network with the bad configuration it would freak out and stop booting. So I finally did the obvious and unplugged the network cable and the system booted fine thus allowing me to fix the nmcli configuration. Da!
