Megapixels is not loading on PinePhone Pro with Mobian.
I had installed the prerequistes (according to thread in this forum) for Megapixels:
$ sudo apt install dcraw
$ sudo apt install imagemagick
What is required to have the Megapixels camera app to work in Mobian?
Thank you
Code: mobian@pinephonepro:~$ megapixels

Abiword as a office mobile word processor for the Pinephone? |

Here it says:
https://abiword.en.lo4d.com/windows
«AbiWord is a full and extensive word processor with features and a feel similar to older, more classic versions of Microsoft's Word product.»
- I was able to create and store files on an SD card with Abiword on my Pinephone
- then I transferred the file on an SD card to a Ubuntu PC, modified it here with Abiword
- Then I have put the SD card back to the Pinephone and was able to edit it again with Abiword.
- This worked without issues so far when choosing the .odt format ( Open Document Format for Office Applications (ODF) ) to save files in Abiword.
- But I had issues when I have chosen the abiword filre format or the .rtf format as discussed here:
https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=18788
- The above procedure worked several times for me personally.
- Unfortunatly Abiword always want to save the file in the abiword format.
- I had to choose the .odt format every time I saved a file in Abiword.
- Is there a way to store the files by default in the .odt format in Abiword?
- I always saved the file as a new file.
- I did not test yet how it is if I save the file under the same file name as I opened the file.

Hello,
I have a friend who mentioned that she would like a soldering iron. I came across the Pinecil here and now I am intrigued in it as a Christmas present. My friend is decent with computers, though has never programed as far as I'm aware. She's a chemist, not a programmer. So I'm wondering how much messing around with flashing etc. is required it get it running and keep it so.
If I were to get it for her, are there and suggested accessories as well?
I like Pine devices, (my PineTime is cool,) and I'd like to spread interest if possible.
Thanks!

Linux Kernel development |

the mobian blog https://blog.mobian.org/posts/2023/09/30...t-dilemma/ notes the pinephone Linux kernel is close to being abandoned due to ists dependancy to a single person's development who is not interested in investing more time to develop this kernel anymore: Our single reference tree was then left rotting (the last kernel compatible with the PinePhone being based on 5.9, which was released nearly 3 years ago!) and unmaintained since then. So it does not look like Pinephone users will get any support in future.
Is this true at all, and what does everybody else think about it?

Max Resolution Supported by RP64? |

A few weeks ago I picked up a Dell (Alienware) AW3423DW monitor. It runs Windows 10 on my laptop fine, and is good for work. The max (and native) resolution is 3440x1440 @ 100Hz.
However my RockPro64 with Linux is only able to reach 1920x1080 @ 120 Hz. Ive tried multiple distros (Manjaro, Arch, Ubuntu, Debian, and Armbian Twister). I'm back on Manjaro now, as that runs the smoothest (YMMV). It correctly identifies the model of the display, but doesn't offer higher resolutions and I'm stuck with black bars on the sides of my screen.
In the RockPro64 specs it says the following:
Dual VOP: one supports resolutions up to 4096x2160 and AFBC; the other supports resolutions up to 2560x1600
So, I wonder if there is a way to use the larger VOP and reach the 3440x1440 resolution? Or am I just trying to push this little board beyond its limits?
I've gone through several unsuccessful attempts at adding the resolution using xrandr (addmode, output, etc.).
Here is some more info, and a EDID file I found on GitHub, but haven't been able to use.

1 LibreOffice
- Who uses it on the Pinephone?:
https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?...614&page=5
2. VIM was suggested in this forum.
- who uses this in 2023?
3. Abiword
- alaraajavamma says she uses it on the Pinephone
- But I was not able to write to the external SD card with it
- after a installed postmarketOS with Abiword on the exernal SD card, I was able to open Abiword files on a Ubuntu PC, save it to an SD card again.
- But when I come back to my Pinephone I had issues most probably because of Abiword format mess.
https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=18788
- not only me had this issues with Abiword formats, there are a number of Abiword format issues reported:
https://www.google.ch/search?as_q=abiwor...etype=&tbs=
4. A user suggested LyX word processor instead of Abiword
- I installed Version 2.3.7 (Sonntag, 1. Januar 2023) on my PC
- it looks similar to Abword
- there are more recent versions available than for Abword
- instructions for LyX are quiet academic and very extended
- still it looks great on my Windows 10 PC and simple
- does someone use LyX on his Pinephone?
- It looks as if it was an option to replace Abiword if it messes up with file formats.

Pinetab2 Keyboard Issues |

I can't really tell if this is a software issue or a hardware issue. When I move the tablet around sometimes the keyboard just turns off and won't turn back on until I remove the tablet from the cover and put it back in. It does the same thing when I close the cover too. It works fine when I have it still. Sometimes when I take it out and in (when it turns off) the backlight will turn back on the keys and touchpad still won't do anything (and then I have to do it again). Is this common or just mine?
