  recent update
Posted by: Uturn - 10-25-2023, 11:14 PM - Forum: Manjaro on PinePhone - Replies (14)

recent update dos not install, it messages breaking a bunch of dependancies: kcoreaddon, modemmanager, networkmanager, and more. (solution: remove kimap2, remove plasma-mobile-nm): How to install that correctly? It will not install by GUI Discover, nor by sudo pacman -Syyu

  key repeat with pinephone keyboard
Posted by: rotwang - 10-22-2023, 03:39 PM - Forum: PinePhone Accessories - No Replies

My keyboard is repeating key presses. It occurs randomly with any key on the keyboard (this is not the top-row keys problem) and in any software. Typically it repeats a couple of dozen times, and I can get it to stop by hitting any key a few times.

What I tried:
- I did a clean install of manjaro phosh (internal, not the SD card).
- I tried both the kernel driver and the user space driver (pinephone-keyboard.disable_input in /boot/boot.txt; systemctl enable ppkb-i2c-inputd.service).
- Re-flashed the keyboard firmware.

None of these have had any effect.

I've never had trouble with the pin connections on my unit.

And it worked very well for about a year. I keep hoping a software update will fix it, but I am starting to doubt it's software, especially since I don't see anyone else having this particular problem.

Any thoughts on other things I could try?

Mini SD Jammed while trying to download OS because of Lost Username and Password
Posted by: NatorTranslator71 - 10-22-2023, 09:56 AM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Hardware - Replies (2)

Without BIOS, and with a mini sd card that just keeps getting jammed in deeper inside the mini sd port, what are my options?

Can I switch out the mini sd port or is it built too deeply into the SOC?

Can I get into the terminal from the Username and Password prompt when it defaults into its Manjaro stock OS?

Can I download a new os with a USB sd card reader.

What are my options?

Unable to upgrade from 1.12 to 1.13
Posted by: Avron - 10-22-2023, 07:15 AM - Forum: General Discussion on PineTime - Replies (5)

When I try to upgrade via Gadgetbridge as I did for previous upgrades, the upload of the firmware starts, the watch shows 0%, Gadgetbridge says 13% then the watch reboots. I tried with NRFConnect, exactly same behaviour. Of course, the software wasn't upgraded. Not sure how to see what the problem is.

Is there a problem with 1.13?

EDIT: I have a second PineTime that I never used, with 1.6. Trying to upgrade to 1.13 results in exactly the same problem. So either I am doing something not right or the DFU does not work.

  Rock64 + Klipper + KlipperScreen Instructions
Posted by: godzilla62 - 10-22-2023, 01:52 AM - Forum: Linux on Rock64 - No Replies

    Rock64 + Klipper + Fluidd + KlipperScreen
After much ado I finally got everything working. I tried many flavors of linux and the only one that had decent video drivers was Ayufan's prerelease version 0.11.2.-1187.
I purchased several Rock64's some years ago for $20 off amazon. It was a security appliance with power supply. Used a couple for retro gaming. Next to print enclosure and mounting.

Here's what you need. (I supplied links at the end)
*Rock64
*Linux Favor Ayufan= focal-minimal-rock64-0.11.2-1187-arm64.img.xz or newer.
*klipper screen = Kuman 7" HDMI 1024x600 - Amazon or aliexpress
*Download Kiauh and follow instructions. Seems all manual installs have been removed for search engines.

KlipperScreen Error I encountered -
xf86OpenConsole: Cannot open virtual console 2 (Permission denied)
Fix that worked ->
sudo bash -c "echo needs_root_rights=yes>>/etc/X11/Xwrapper.config"

Some xorg random notes -
find monitor number via ssh do not type $
$ export DISPLAY=:0
$ xrandr --listmonitors
list display resolutions
$ xrandr -d :0
$ xrandr -display :0.0 --listmonitors
>output
Monitors: 1-- 0: +*HDMI-1 1920/476x1080/268+0+0  HDMI-1

Pinephone with mini keyboard, trackpad and large power bank?
Posted by: Peter Gamma - 10-21-2023, 07:50 AM - Forum: PinePhone Accessories - No Replies

This is our favorite option for our projects. To have the PP with the PP keyboard and all the keys supported we have to choose as far as we know postmarketOS SXMO as Martijn Braam uses it:

https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=16750

But then we do not have a trackpad or a mouse. But what to do if we are looking for a PP with a keyboard with many keys, a mouse or trackpad and a big power bank which lasts very long?

1. connect a Ri 4 mini keyboard over a it’s own 2.4 Ghz dongle to the Pinephone?

As I have described it here:

https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=18809

Did someone get this to work?

2. connect a power bank to the POGO pins of the Pinephone?

Did someone get this to work exept for Martijn Braam?

Which mini keyboard and mouse to choose for the PP?
Posted by: Peter Gamma - 10-21-2023, 02:55 AM - Forum: PinePhone Accessories - No Replies

Is the best solution thePinephone keyboard with PostmarketOS with SXMO?

- and does an additional Bluetooth mouse always disconnect?

- I have chosen postmarketOS for my Pinephone since among the distros which support the PP keyboard and that is postmarketOS, Manjaro Linux, DanctNIX (Arch Linux) and Mobian:

https://pine64.com/product/pinephone-pin...oard-case/

- postmarketOS is the one Martin Braam has chosen in several YouTube video demos so I have chosen it as well.

- But user reported in the Pine64 forum that only one Bluetooth HID device can be connected at a time:

https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=12973

- and an usb mouse can only be connected if the PP keyboard is not connected:

https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=18586

- Zebulon Walton uses a Bluetooth keyboard with trackpad:

https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=13835

- But I had issues with this device since it always disconnects:

https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=16829

- Is there a user who is happy with Zebulon Waltons Bluetooth keyboard with trackpad?

- There are happy users of the PP keyboard, for instance Hook:

https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=16750

Hook writes:

- «For whatever it is worth in this context, for PostmarketOS with SXMO, the keyboard works perfectly out of the box.

- Alt G gets you the third layer symbols on the numkeys and Pine-numkey gets you the function keys.

- No mods of any sort required.

- Being a noob, SXMO was a little challenging, but once you get it, it is perfect for a phone sized device.

- I just installed nano and away I go.

- SXMO on a PinePhone makes the phone essentially a terminal with menus and gestures. Very nice.

- According to what I have learned and mention in this thread, it sould be possible add additionally a Bluetooth mouse to a PP with the PP keyboard.

- Is there another option to add HIDs?

- Is LibreOffice not one of the applications which can be started up on the PP which is one of apps with the most features for the PP and is highly costumizable:

https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?...614&page=5

- But does it make any sense to costumize LibreOffice for the PP without a keyboard with a lot of keys which can be accessed directly without pressing ALT and SHIFT and Control and the Pine key?

- I studied intensively single board computers and the issues they have with HID devices.

- One such a device is the Orange Pi 5

- On my question « Is there a wireless keyboard which works with the Orange Pi 5?» which I wrote to the armbian forum:

https://forum.armbian.com/topic/30167-is...ange-pi-5/

- forum members posted that they use 2.4 GHz keyboards with trackpads which do not require any driver and work out of the box.

- One of these devices is the Ri mini 4 which is part of Chris Sherwood (Crosstalk solutions) kit for the Orange Pi 5:

https://kit.co/crosstalk/orange-pi-5

- The Rii 4 offers Bluetooth and 2.4 Ghz dual mode.

- It is a keyboard from which Chris Sherwood says it works with the Orange Pi 5.

- Is it not the best to choose 2.4 GHz with the dongle of the keyboard which does not require any drivers?

- Did someone get the  Rii 4 mini keyboard with 2.4 Ghz dongle get to work with the PP and is happy with it?

"failed to start simple desktop display manager" PinePhonePro / Plasma Beta15 RC4
Posted by: OhMeadhbh - 10-20-2023, 12:24 PM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Software - Replies (1)

I have a "recent" version of the PinePhonePro (i.e. - there is no RE button.)

Tow-Boot was pre-installed and seems to be working fine.

I don't know what's flashed on the eMMC in the factory, but when I tried to update it, replaced pacman pgp signatures with HTML advertisements for domains for sale (that's a new one.)

But I deleted the .sigs and updated through discovery.

I then got some sort of error on boot, but couldn't quite make it out because I couldn't turn on the backlight.  But the system didn't boot to a graphical screen.

I then downloaded Manjaro-ARM-plasma-mobile-pinephonepro-beta15-rc4.img.xz from https://github.com/manjaro-pinephone/pla...e/releases

Flashed it to eMMC using tow-boot and rebooted.

Other than it setting the backlight to zero on boot, everything was fine. screen worked. audio worked. wifi worked. i was able to activate sshd via systemctl.  I was completely happy.

But I did want to add software and update the device.

So...

sudo rm -r /etc/pacman.d/gnupg
sudo pacman-mirrors --geoip
sudo pacman -Sy gnupg archlinux-keyring archlinuxarm-keyring manjaro-keyring manjaro-arm-keyring
sudo pacman-key --init
sudo pacman-key --populate
sudo pacman-key --refresh-keys
sudo pacman -Sc

and then

sudo pacman -Syyuu

and it downloaded about 900Mb of new packages.  But now when I reboot, it hang w/ a message "failed to start simple desktop display manager" (I figured out that you set the screen dim timeout to never or some large value to avoid having the screen super-dim when it reboots.)

is this the expected behaviour?  are we just not supposed to update?  anyone have references to pages describing how to fix this?

  Infinitime Build problem
Posted by: BlackDev - 10-20-2023, 09:31 AM - Forum: Development Discussion on PineTime - Replies (1)

Hi guys,

I'm trying to build Infinitime project on my windows machine but with no success. I have been following the steps in:

https://github.com/InfiniTimeOrg/InfiniT...Program.md

I'm stuck in the last step, the make command.

Cmake command:

Code:
Cmake -DARM_NONE_EABI_TOOLCHAIN_PATH="C:/Program Files (x86)/GNU Arm Embedded Toolchain/10 2021.10" -DNRF5_SDK_PATH="C:/Users/blackdev/pinetime/nRF5_SDK_15.3.0_59ac345" -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Debug -DBUILD_DFU=1 -DBUILD_RESOURCES=1 -DTARGET_DEVICE=PINETIME -S . -B build

Which results in adding the following files inside build folder

Code:
├───CMakeFiles
│   ├───3.28.0-rc2
│   │   ├───CompilerIdASM
│   │   ├───CompilerIdC
│   │   │   ├───Debug
│   │   │   │   └───CompilerIdC.tlog
│   │   │   └───tmp
│   │   ├───CompilerIdCXX
│   │   │   ├───Debug
│   │   │   │   └───CompilerIdCXX.tlog
│   │   │   └───tmp
│   │   └───x64
│   │       └───Debug
│   │           └───VCTargetsPath.tlog
│   ├───58e9d56eaa4cb413b76d7d838cbc8fb1
│   ├───74be971449aa6aebb611e3cfdd9dd126
│   ├───83f795d81ab7de042a55dc014fe330ec
│   ├───CMakeScratch
│   └───pkgRedirects
└───src
    ├───CMakeFiles
    └───displayapp
        └───fonts
            └───CMakeFiles

Then I enter the build folder and I try to use make command as described in the above link
Code:
make -j4 pinetime-app

It doesn't work, it says:
"make: *** No rule to make target 'pinetime-app'.  Stop."

I also tried make -j4, but similar issue.

Any hints and guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
