How to use the escape key
Posted by: cecilcosta - 07-21-2020, 12:13 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (1)

I've just received my Pinephone but I cannot use VI as I cannot find the escape key. What's the solution?

Question TouchScreen "goodix" version and driver source code.
Posted by: jakeg - 07-21-2020, 11:54 AM - Forum: PostmarketOS on PinePhone - Replies (2)

Hey folks,

I have been using the pinephone with the XFCE desktop environment with postmarketOS as it seems to run the fastest out of all the options I have tried on my pinephone so far(braveheart version).

I have tried several things to make it more usable when it comes to navigation touch screen such as compiling and trying to run eggthouch and messing with libinput.
neither have really worked or had any meaningful results from what i have managed to cobble together.

My question: Does anyone know the exact model of the touch screen driver IC and the git repo for the code used by OS. I want to be able to process the raw input and give it new functions based on touch movements.

-"fast" swipe is interpreted as a scroll event.
-double tapping is a right click
-single tap is a left click
-holding is a a held left click
ect...

At this point I'm still reading documentation as I'm assuming that alpine linux/postmarket os is using xorg clients and servers to handle the input and output. Although the section on touch screens in the epub(documentation) just had a note saying it still had to be written.

If anyone has any input or ideas they would be most welcome.

Found the datasheet: http://files.pine64.org/doc/datasheet/pi...asheet.pdf
still looking for the driver repo/source

  Activated 3d acceleration?
Posted by: Boern - 07-21-2020, 10:59 AM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - No Replies

Did a recent update activate the lima driver for opengl acceleration? I noticed that qutebrowser is now running rather strangely and the version output shows that opengl is activated where it previously wasn't.

Is there any information on when it will be back in stock?

  dropdown menu doesn't work
Posted by: daniel - 07-21-2020, 09:04 AM - Forum: UBPorts on PinePhone - Replies (3)

Using Morph browser. When trying to select from a dropdown menu (image 1), the phone opens a small window with some (not all ) the options (image 2), but they cannot be selected. If I try to open again the dropdown menu many times, the browser windows is reduced into a  small white rectangular in the top left of the screen and do not respond anymore (Image 3). Some rare times a new window open opens with selectable options (a desired behavior).

Is there any known solution for this?

Photo Can anyone explain channels?
Posted by: daniel - 07-21-2020, 08:39 AM - Forum: UBPorts on PinePhone - Replies (9)

Hi

I think the different channels are different levels of OS development (such in any Linux). "Stable channel" only takes packages that are tested and will not break the system. "Development channel" I understand that are packages being tested but can potentially break the system or fail in any sense. What are the others?

Can anyone correct me and explain better what are Stable, edge, development, release candidate

Why If I select development, I am stuck in stable? is there any reason why I cannot switch? maybe because I updated the phone in stable (currently in version 4)?

Why when I go to channels windows I have several options for each? is this a bug? or are they different? (for example 'stable is in the list 3 times)

Any input will be appreciated!
Thanks

  Manjaro sway profile for pinebook
Posted by: e-minguez - 07-21-2020, 08:13 AM - Forum: Linux on Pinebook - Replies (3)

I've just replaced my current OS on my regular 1080p pinebook with this https://forum.manjaro.org/t/sway-profile/138700/53
It is pretty lightweight so it fits perfect on the pinebook.

Kudos to @appelgriebsch for making this available for the pinebook (and the pinebook pro as well!)

  Telegram news channel (not chat)

I'd just like to bring it to everyone's attention that there is a community ran non-spammy news channel on Telegram.

Unlike this news section, which is meant for news-related discussion and updates (e.g. shipping), or the chats which concern day-to-day development and support, the news channel updates you about key PINE64 developments as they transpire.

Battery usage in stock v1.2 UBPorts edition
Posted by: Moonlit - 07-21-2020, 07:01 AM - Forum: UBPorts on PinePhone - Replies (7)

Hi,
Received my UBPorts edition with v1.2 hardware(?) yesterday. The 14hrs runtime that this post mentions is nowhere near what I get:
https://twitter.com/thepine64/status/127...4781222912

[EDIT: Added Version and "top -H" output]
Version: "About" says Ubuntu 16.04 (FACTORY).

- The battery was disconnected with the plastic sheet when phone arrived. Battery was then around 40% so I removed it and gave it a full charge.
- All DIP switches ON
- Wifi/BT turned off in OS
- No SIM or MicroSD inserted
- Restarted phone just before test and only opened the Settings - Battery page.
- Screen off the entire time, except for a few seconds now and then to check the battery.

Lost half the charge in 4.5 hours. It actually loses charge when idle FASTER than it charges. See pic.
- Started charging around 20:00 @37%  and left it alone until 13:00 the day after
- Reached @100% around 01:45, then charging was stopped until it was automatically restarted around 06:45
- Left it with charger disconnected and screen off around 07:30
- Discharged to around @35% at 13:00.
