Have inherited frozen braveheart

Have "inherited" a Braveheart from a roomie. They said they could never get UBTouch to work well, so they replaced it with Mobian.
They eventually gave up on it, so now I'm trying to make a go of it.
The Problem: now it only boots to the splash screen and completely locks up. The battery has to come out to turn it off.
It also won't boot from any SD card, I've tried about 5 or 6 with Jumpdrive or an OS on them - nothing.
So can someone tell me if there's a way to send this phone into a factory reset when starting it up?

I haven't used UT in a few months because I noticed that from June to August the usability was the exact same and certainly not usable for a daily driver. I haven't used it much since though, is it still basically in the same condition it was in August?

Battery life for various OS & UI

Can battery life be gained by a choice of OS & UI?
- Is there a noticeable difference in battery life between operating systems? (All other things being equal, of course, like usage.)
I'm especially curious about Archlinux vs postmarketOS vs Debian.
- Does UI choice notably affect battery life? Which UI's are least/most power hungry?
My hypothesis is that minimalistic OS's like PMOS load cpu less than, say, Ubuntu/Debian or Manjaro, and thus draw less power.
Likewise, for UI's, I assume that a bare OS only with command line interface and without any GUI uses less power than, say, Lomiri (Ubuntu Touch) or Phosh.
I haven't done any solid testing, though. From casual use, SXMO did seem to have a noticeably longer battery life than ArchLinux+Phosh.
Maybe people could share their experiences with battery life using different OS's & UI's here?

Installing chromium browser?

Maybe I'm missing something obvious but I don't seem to be able to install the chromium web browser from the command line. Running apt install chromium-browser doesn't work...
Code: [mobian@mobian ~]$ sudo apt install chromium-browser
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package chromium-browser is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package 'chromium-browser' has no installation candidate
Trying apt install chromium doesn't work either, but it suggests another package...
Code: [mobian@mobian ~]$ sudo apt-get install chromium
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package chromium is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
However the following packages replace it:
chromium-bsu
However,"chromium-bsu" appears to be a shoot-em-up space game:
https://packages.debian.org/sid/chromium-bsu
So -- how to install the chromium browser? Is there another repository that needs to be added?

Bad mom here. My son asked for one thing for Xmas. I thought he was buying it for himself. He thought I was buying it for him.
Anyone have a source for the PINECIL Smart Mini Portable Soldering Iron even at a small premium? Should I/can I look somewhere else for it?

What is the best SBC model for custom libre-linux build?

I am considering buying a few Pine64 SBC's, but I need to know how amenable the various models are to building a fully libre custom linux. Specifically, building my own ATF, mainline U-Boot, mainline de-blobbed kernel, etc.
I own some Libre Computer Tritium boards and have successfully done this with them, but I've found the hardware somewhat unreliable, e.g ethernet ports going bad, etc. so I am looking for an alternative.
Would RockPro64 or H64 be a good fit for what I am doing? Also, are the Wifi/BT modules usable with open firmware?
Thanks

Getting the Idea to Stick! (Ideation Marketing)

I've gotten speaking about the Pinephone to people down to a very simple pattern across demographics in my urban area:
Quote:I have a new phone (this is either after they ask me to do something a proprietary phone can do, and it can't, or it's a person I'm familiar with)
It's worse than the old one
It works as a phone with calls and texts and contacts
just like regular
AND It doesn't have any Apple or Google, Android or Windows on it
There are no backdoors; no one is able to come in, not even you if you mess up, though you can reset it if something goes wrong
It never does anything against my will
It's sort of similar to a filing cabinet that you have to maintain yourself
look at this camera, it's terrible! *laughs*
After they see it and have the knowledge that it even exists as an option, and don't feel threatened by it and how new it is, I let them know the following:
I don't recommend it for everyday use yet, You'd be interested in it if you're building it or you're testing it right now.
the idea does stick. That's key. Because anyone can search it on their own devices after the idea is there. That's where I see "marketing" the pinephone is at.
I also make it clear that it's perfectly acceptable that they own the apple or google phone and let them know I understand that's where they're at and where they put *their* money Right Now.
It allows people who are just finding out about the whole floss thing and the pinephone thing to come to their own realizations about what it is and not typing them into a box, or an "ideal adopter." Same for the people who use for-profit tech: it allows them to see for themselves if they WANT to really take it on themselves, and it frees up me having to explain anything. It's more interactive than stereo-typing or selling.
I'm not a marketer btw, these are just conversations that I've been having started by how differently this phone operates
people also LOVE there's no ads on the music I play

Waterproof Enclosure Knockout Size

Does anyone know what the correct size and thread pattern the threaded knockouts on the Aluminum Waterproof Enclosure are? I can't seem to figure it out, despite having 3D printed several different sizes and styles of bolts; none of which seem to match up. I figure before I waste more resin and time printing more and more test parts, I'd just ask. I can't find any real spec sheets or drawings that would list this data, and my own measurements are inconclusive.
