Modem firmware update - SocialNetworkingWasAMistake - 12-15-2020 Towards the end of the Pine64 update video PLN talks about a modem firmware update that improves call reliability and power consumption, do I need to do something particular to receive this update or will I get it through apt? You need to do it yourself - standard warranty is if you break it you own both parts Details in this thread. Ah, I think I'll hold if it's still very WIP in that case RE: Modem firmware update - dukla2000 - 12-15-2020 (12-15-2020, 02:47 PM)SocialNetworkingWasAMistake Wrote:(12-15-2020, 02:02 PM)dukla2000 Wrote:(12-15-2020, 01:07 PM)SocialNetworkingWasAMistake Wrote: Towards the end of the Pine64 update video PLN talks about a modem firmware update that improves call reliability and power consumption, do I need to do something particular to receive this update or will I get it through apt? I see in the December Update (about 60% of the way down) "Martijn Braam is currently looking into creating a simple and safe utility for flashing the firmware." RE: Modem firmware update - antiX-Dave - 01-03-2021 Well bugger. I did the update and lost the usages of calls. (SMS/Internet works) Tried changing the various modem settings to what they were with no luck Tried changing the modem settings as specified here: https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=11815&pid=80714#pid80714 Tried disabling the the VoLTE as mentioned here: https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=11815&pid=85971#pid85971 Also updated the kernel from 5.9 to 5.10 via the repo. Still no luck. Anyone else have the loss of call function / may have another solution? Edit: tried going the other way and enabling the VoLTE via post https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=11815&pid=85368#pid85368 still no joy. I did the update and lost the usages of calls. (SMS/Internet works) When I did the update, I lost all cell connectivity - it showed no signal. I did a fresh installation of the 12/28 build, which restored connectivity. I suspect the fresh install changed the modem settings to the correct ones. Also, the firmware in the first post in that thread is 01.003.01.002, which is not the latest. 01.003.01.003 is on GitHub at https://github.com/Biktorgj/quectel_eg25...003.01.003. The install instructions at that site are completely different. I did not try that version. RE: Modem firmware update - antiX-Dave - 01-03-2021 The github 01.003.01.003 instructions are the ones that I followed. (Though I had to run git checkout EG25GGBR07A08M2G_01.003.01.003 to have that version) For now I have reverted to the EG25GGBR07A08M2G_01.002.01.002 version (which is what I had prior IIRC) so I can use the phone till I can try again later. After a reboot with the older version of firmware all functionality has returned. (Even with the 5.10 kernel) I will try flashing another sd card with the newest version of mobian and updating the firmware so everything is fresh. Edit: I am also considering trimming (drilling) the back internal cover plastic to access those spots to short RE: Modem firmware update - dcinoz - 01-03-2021 (01-03-2021, 03:46 PM)antiX-Dave Wrote: Well bugger. (SMS/Internet works) @antiX-Dave Check my post as I've corrected a step that claimed to be Reboot the modem to apply the settings whereas it sets full functionality AND resets the modem (presume to default settings). AT+CFUN=1,1 should not be needed at all (and it resets to defaults). This comes from Quectel BG96 AT command manual so presumably correct for EG25 too. If anything you can do AT+CFUN=1,0 to set full functionality and keep other settings. I don't have VoLTE support via Alidmobile but incoming calls ring, outgoing work, SMS also, haven't checked data but presume aok for me on firmware EG25GGBR07A08M2G_01.003.01.003. |
