Low Battery indication (Manjaro/PostmarketOS with phosh)
Posted by: MamlinAV - 12-15-2020, 04:12 AM - Forum: PinePhone Software - Replies (3)

Greetings!
Can you please tell me if it is possible to configure the low battery indication (LED and/or sound)?
For example, when the battery charge is less than 10%, blink the LED and/or beep. In theory, this should work even in deep sleep mode.
Maybe I missed something, but did not find such settings in Manjaro and PostmarketOS (phosh).

  Rotate Console Screens
Posted by: wd5gnr - 12-14-2020, 11:06 PM - Forum: PineTab Software - No Replies

If you use the tab with a keyboard, it is annoying that the consoles (Alt+Fn) are in portrait mode. Easy fix.

1) Edit /boot/boot.txt
2) On the setenv bootargs line, add fbcon=rotate:1
3) Save
4) Run /boot/mkscr
5) Reboot

Doesn't help with KDE/Plasma rotation problem though Sad

Manjaro Issues: Dark Screen & Font size
Posted by: Sally2 - 12-14-2020, 09:51 PM - Forum: Linux on Pinebook Pro - Replies (1)

Hi,

I download Manjaro KDE Plasma 20.10 last week.   I have two issues I don't have a clue to solve.

!. Pinebook Pro, screen is dark

2. Font size is to small to read or see... increased the font sizes but website size don't change.

Thank you for any assistance you can give me.

My regards,

Let me clarify what I mean by a dark screen.

My computer came with Ubuntu, lighting was not an issue. I download Manjaro KDE Plasma on an extra 64gb eMMC card. The set up of Manjaro went fine. The screen was dark after it booted up and I attempt to use the keys F1 and F2 to brighten up the screen, no luck.

New motherboard - ANX firmware won't flash.
Posted by: --- - 12-14-2020, 08:40 PM - Forum: PinePhone Hardware - Replies (17)

Finally got the ANX firmware update accepted using postmarketOS & Phosh, anyone else solving the same issue might want to try this first.

Just replaced with 3GB version. The wiki instructs flashing ANX firmware but:
ash: write error: Operation timed out

I have usb ssh access but not usb file manager (Thunar) access. Not sure if this is an issue?

Pine tab with phosh or plasma?
Posted by: dhosh - 12-14-2020, 04:32 PM - Forum: PineTab Software - Replies (3)

I probably shouldn't be playing in the development sandbox, but an old man has to stretch once in a while!
I've had reasonable amount of time on Linux .. mostly Ubuntu variants ... yes, including the shell ... but all have been in the '386 + world.  I know arm is a new-ish animal.  Exciting, and interesting, nonetheless, and I'd like to help.
To that end, I got several toys over the last few months ... the Pinebook Pro, Pinephone (UBports community), and the Pinetab.  I played around with various flavors on the PBP, and landed on Manjaro Plasma.  It, so far, for me, has been the most useful.  As I'm hoping to have all my Linux devices as similar as possible, I'm targeting Manjaro for the Pinetab and Pinephone, as well.

The Pinephone has Manjaro ARM GNOME 3.382, with Wayland Windowing system .... (OK ... so, I thought I installed Plasma ... too many downloads ).  This seems to work reasonably OK, so far, as well... although the camera ... not so much, and I haven't ventured out to get a SIM card for it, until I kinda know it's going to work.  My Samsung S7 is on Verizon. (I'm in Michigan, USA)

Now to my current play-time .... Pinetab.
I'm using manjaro-arm-flasher, as, so far, I think I want to stick with Manjaro editions.
For the tab, My choices are:
   phosh ver: dev-...alpha 1, alpha 2, dev-...1017
   plasma-mobile:  ver: alpha 2, 3 or 4choices are:

   phosh ver
   plasma-mobile-dev (I think that's the name)  ver: dev-...1017

I tried plasma-mobile-dev  ver dev-...1017.
It certainly looked nice, and I was initially excited, I could connect to my WiFi, and put in a password, so the pop-up keyboard worked.  About .... once.  I haven't seen it since ... at least and work.  Most every time, the virtual keyboard doesn't pop up when input is needed.  ... not in Firefox, terminal, etc.  I can connect to the physical keyboard that came with it ... the keyboard lights come on, but that's about it.  If I plug the keyboard in after the pinetab boots (which it rarely does now) ... sometimes the virutal keyboard pops up, sometimes not.  If I type on the physical keyboard, the screen flashes when doing so.  When I press enter ... SOMEtimes, the keys I pressed show up in the input field.  Usually not, however.

Currently, I can not get the pinetab to boot at all with the SD card in place.  The initial white Manjaro logo comes up, with the whirly-circle dots.... they go around about 1 1/2 times, then stop.

I have just downloaded phosh/dev-...1017.  ... an depressed the power button .... drum roll .... and, yes ... it boots!  Pop-up keyboard works, although the overall speed of the tablet is much slower than the Plasma version I tried above.  If I tried to go to software and choose Updates, I get a 'no plugin could handle get-updates'.  I hit the refresh icon in the upper left hand corner, and it says it's looking for new updates ... so, guess maybe I'm on a roll.  I don't see auto-rotate, or an option to lock what orientation it's in ... yet.  Let the experimentation begin.
Overall ... this version looks like my current pinephone  desktop ..... not anything like my PBP.

Anyway ... just my status, so far.  I will see how consistent the pinetab is, with this phosh flavor, before trying one of the plasma flavors again. ... although I THINK that is what I would like better.  Who knows.

Thanks, all
Dennis

So, I've been trying to make sense of all of these different editions and versions.

Advise needed, which OS / applications to use?
Posted by: hemertje - 12-14-2020, 03:26 PM - Forum: General Discussion on ROCKPRO64 - Replies (7)

Hi to all,

I have a Pine64 Rockpro64, 4GB version.

I want to run it as a NAS with the following applications, have the following functionality:

• Opensource software
• DDNS IP-update (gandi)
• Letsencrypt SSL Certificate / Acme.sh
• SSH
• Antivirus
• NZB Download / SABnzbd / nzbget
• Ubiquiti Unifi Controller
• Oscam server
• SBC System Monitoring
• PI-Hole
• Domoticz
• Daily / Weekly Backup to a Synology NAS
• Nextcloud, for hosting documents and photo’s / movies, or alternative?

For the security, do I need to run something like Fail2Ban as Nextcloud for example is connected to the Internet?

I see a lott of OS’s for the Pine64 Rockpro64 but most of them are old and not held up to date as it seems?
Which OS to run that have major and security updates and is held actual up to date?

Where to start?

To Docker or not to docker?
Eats docker memory and system resources as that is limited on a SBC?

Now I am running Ayufan’s 0.10.9: gitlab-ci-linux-build-180 - 8 April 2020
https://github.com/ayufan-rock64/linux-b...tag/0.10.9

But having major problems with Nextcloud: https://help.nextcloud.com/t/nc-20-0-2-o...php/100292
It’s running directly besides OMV 5, not inside docker

  Have inherited frozen braveheart
Posted by: doodah - 12-14-2020, 03:13 PM - Forum: PinePhone Hardware - Replies (2)

Have "inherited" a Braveheart from a roomie. They said they could never get UBTouch to work well, so they replaced it with Mobian.

They eventually gave up on it, so now I'm trying to make a go of it.

The Problem: now it only boots to the splash screen and completely locks up.  The battery has to come out to turn it off.

It also won't boot from any SD card, I've tried about 5 or 6 with Jumpdrive or an OS on them - nothing.

So can someone tell me if there's a way to send this phone into a factory reset when starting it up?
