I am trying to get the console working on the SOEDGE model A baseboard.

So far:

I have connected 3 different serial console gadgets; 2 with the FT232RL chip and another with the CH340 chip:

Voltage set to 3.3V, Serial port set to 115200 baud, 8N1
GND -> PI-2 GPIO pin 6 (GND on baseboard schematic)
RXD -> PI-2 GPIO pin 8 (UART_TXD on baseboard schematic)
TXD -> PI-2 GPIO pin 10 (UART_RXD on baseboard schematic)

Nothing works.

Pine64 Support Says:


Please inform that the console serial speed setting is 1500000, N, 8, 1. the txd light light keep blinking this means there is console message damping out during SOEdge boot up,  The rxd LED light only light up when there is message send from terminal program to SOEdge.  For further technical questions, please you may post to PINE64 forum or chat room, and the developer there will give you the best advice.

I have configured the console to 1500000 8N1 in minicom and there is nothing coming from the device.

I have tried it with 2 images available on the wiki (https://wiki.pine64.org/wiki/SOEdge#Linu...e_Releases): "BSP Linux ver 1.1 Build from SDK" and "Factory Test Build". (I burned the images to microsd with balena etcher and inserted them unto the sdcard slot on the baseboard.)

What is the next step to diagnose this? Are one of these images known to work with the SOEDGE baseboard?

After I run "sudo dd if=pine64-pinephone.img of=/dev/sda2 status=progress", I have jumpdrive on my microSD card, but when I insert it into my turned off pinephone, the pinephone boots into Plasma Mobile, not jumpdrive.
What could mitigate this problem so that I can end with an arch linux installation on my pinephone?

Attaching a Rockpro64 via its ethernet port to my PBP, it's supposed to be possible to "share" the PBP's wifi connection with it, which actually involves setting up NAT & DHCP automatically under the hood.

Network Manager > Edit Connections > Wired connection 1 > IPv4 Settings > Method: Shared to other computers

But it didn't work.

After banging on it all morning, I found this article,

which mentions that it uses dnsmasq. Check; dnsmasq is not running. Check; package dnsmasq is not installed. Install dnsmasq; now it works.

That ought to be declared as a dependency.

Edit: When installing NetworkManager, it does list dnsmasq as an optional dependency for connection sharing. But the user doesn't necessarily ever see this message. It should either be a hard dep, or Network Manager should detect the absence of dnsmasq & give an informative error message, rather than just mysteriously not working.

I've been setting up my Rockpro64 with a Manjaro-ARM-minimal-rockpro64-21.08.img that I DLed a while ago. The built-in ethernet worked.

After upgrading the system via pacman, it does not work.

Old kernel: 5.13.12-1-MANJARO-ARM
New kernel: 5.14.1-1-MANJARO-ARM

Or possibly the new linux-firmware 20210818.c46b8c3-1.

If I connect a random USB ethernet dongle, that works fine.
But with the built-in port, nothing gets through. Pinging my PBP makes the lights on its dongle flash, but absolutely nothing shows up in Wireshark running on it. The ARP pings apparently aren't comprehensible.

Anybody want to test & confirm? Or is it just me?

I killed my first RockPro64 after only some minutes of use. It seems I put the SATA card in the wrong direction in. It starts directly to smoke after it gets power.

Now, I got a new one and I want only know if I got it now the right way!?

I'm on Manjaro with Plasma Mobile on a pinephone rev 1.2. Just updated to the latest testing branch and got the Megapixels 1.3.0.

Since then colors in images feel way off.





I dug around a bit to find the difference in the postprocessing script.




The change seems to occur around line 76 of /usr/share/megapixels/postprocess.sh:

Some of us live in remote and or mountainous areas with poor to no signal strength for 2g,3g,4g and gps Im wondering if a case could be made that has an extra battery/batteries and external antenna ports for powered higher strength antennas. Im also wondering if the 6 gold breakout pins in the back would be sufficient for such a modular case.

Is the upcoming pinephone keyboard planned with different layouts ? I can speculate on that, as the pinebook has only been released with qwerty layouts (the subtle ANSI vs ISO difference wasn't really interesting to me).

I understand it would be complex to produce many different layouts. At minimum, are keyboard stickers (eg. azerty...) been planned ? It would be likely impossible to find any commercially available sticker that would fit the small buttons of the keyboard.

I was so happy today with so many packages updates, but after the reboot calls geary and gnome-contacts were missing, I tried to reinstall and got "dipends on packages libfolks-eds25(>=0.14) and libfolks25(>=0.14), but not installable" "impossible to correct the problem, the packages are dammaged and broken" (I was translating the output of the terminal, those may not be exact words)
