  Pinephone Pro vs Pinephone Parts
Posted by: luney - 10-15-2021, 06:55 PM - Forum: PinePhone Hardware - Replies (16)

This is probably a dumb question, but will any of the Pinephone Hardware be compatable with the regular Pinephone? For example, can I replace the orginal pinephone screen with a gorilla glass version?

This applies to other hardware as well, but the glass would be an awesome upgrade for my orginal Pinephone.

Sad Any luck with a Serial Cable?
Posted by: acid andy - 10-15-2021, 11:42 AM - Forum: PinePhone Hardware - Replies (3)

I'm trying to diagnose an issue stopping a distro on my PinePhone from booting (with U-boot).

I bought a serial cable but when I connect it to my Linux desktop PC, I get a load of garbage characters and no readable text at all. It's a nightmare!

I started off with the recommended settings I've found on this site and elsewhere: 115200 8N1. When this just gave me garbage I tried just about every baud rate available and even different values for the data bits and parity. The output would change but never became readable text!

I'm not using USB, it's a 3.5mm headphone plug to RS232 and I had to add a null modem (crossover) adapter, connected to my PC's RS232 port, which is read using /dev/ttyS0.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? Or does anyone even get any readable serial output from their PinePhone using a recent U-boot?

Argh! Looking around it sounds like an RS232 port may use too high a voltage for the PinePhone's 3.3v TTL serial connection! Maybe time to order a cable that plugs into USB instead, if I haven't fried part of my PinePhone. Confused

Wifi and bluetooth disabled on pinephone arch-phosh
Posted by: pineuser0 - 10-15-2021, 04:58 AM - Forum: Arch Linux on PinePhone - Replies (4)

The cellular, wifi, and bluetooth icons don't respond when tapped on the drop-down menu and the screen rotation  button seems to have reverted to switching between portrait and landscape rather than between locked and adapt. The gnome settings app also won't open even after a minute of waiting, whereas the terminal app opens within five seconds.

I think connecting to ethernet might solve this, but I'd like to know if there's a solution to this that involves no internet connection. I don't recall any specific actions that led to this unwanted behavior occuring.

  file manager vs. SD card
Posted by: laserpyramid - 10-15-2021, 03:25 AM - Forum: UBPorts on PinePhone - Replies (6)

Hi,

I have a PinePhone running Ubuntu Touch, and I would like to access my files via File Manager that are on a 16 GB microSD card (formatted to FAT32). The SD card is mounted (it's on /media/phablet/FEA5-90D8 ), I'm able to reach all files via terminal, and I can see for example the pictures via Gallery application, but File Manager app shows nothing (just a blank screen) when microSD is in the phone.

For example if I would like to open and watch a video with Media Player or Video Player application, and I choose File Manager to add/open content, then I get blank screen, as well.

Any solution for this? Should I unmount and re-mount the microSD to a different folder?

Thanks!

  updated now phone won't start
Posted by: techariah - 10-14-2021, 02:20 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (3)

Hi all,

I just picked up my pine phone again after putting it down when I couldn't get it to receive calls. Wanted to test some other ideas for it. I saw there was a bunch of updates. I ran it and got an error that I found the solution for here: https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?pid=96656. After the update was completed, I went back to the package manager store (I forget what it's called, Discover maybe?) and it would only show the basic skeleton of the app without content loading. Well there were a lot of updates and it actually had locked me out and requiring my password but the keyboard wouldn't come up so I attached a keyboard and it worked. I figured it may have needed a reboot so I did it. Now to get it to do anything I have to hold the power button for about 20 seconds. The light turns red, it changes to orange or green depending on the angle you look at it and gives a little bump vibration, the screen lights (still black but it's lit) for a split second, then goes back off. This happens on or off charger.

Any ideas?

Thanks

  Choosing Wi-Fi or Mobile Data
Posted by: sergio.pantalone - 10-14-2021, 10:46 AM - Forum: PinePhone Software - Replies (1)

Does anyone know if the phone is connected to both Wi-Fi and has mobile data turned on is it smart enough to use Wi-Fi? I am always on Wi-Fi and just got a note from my provider claiming I've used half my data. I'm running Mobian, with the necessary patches to receive MMS messages (I mention this because I think the MMS eats into my data, even though it's supposed to be unlimited text). Any help is appreciated!

Which LCD model is used in the PineTime ?
Posted by: kwinz - 10-14-2021, 03:36 AM - Forum: PineTime Hardware and Accessories - No Replies

In the wiki I only see mentioned that it uses the ST7789 display controller.

And that it's an 240×240 pixels IPS capacitive touchscreen, RGB 65K colors.

And there is a CAD model https://files.pine64.org/doc/datasheet/p...0Panel.jpg

But which exact LCD model is it? I am not asking about the controller, I am asking about the LCD itself.

Thanks in advance!
