Microphone on Hardware Model 1.2 is Unusably Noisy In Some Circomstances |

I should start by saying I have found a way to temporarily fix the issue on my pinephone, but hopefully this will be useful for others regardless.
I received my pinephone roughly 7 months prier to this post, and while I was enjoying and getting good use out of the device, the microphone started having random bouts of noise & static to the point that it was unusable, no matter what distro was installed. after taking the phone partially apart, I narrowed the issue down to physical pressure on the microphone mounted to the daughter board. It seems that almost anything that puts pressure on the microphone can cause or fix this issue, namely whether or not the battery is installed, charged, expanding, contracting, how tightly the three screws holding in the daughter board are tightened, whether the backplate or case is installed, etc. Even putting a piece of duct tape in between the battery and the plastic holding in the daughter board can cause the mic to be unusable.
This issue strikes me as one that could be inadvertently be the cause of many bug reports to distro & modem firmware maintainers, as I haven't seen anyone online having this sort of issue, so hopefully this post can clear this up.
The next steps for dealing with this issue are probably a small note about it in the wiki and dealing with it on a hardware level for future revisions, as I think end users would find the microphone being unusable half the time to be unacceptable for a released smartphone. I should also point out that I can only confirm this issue effects the Pine64 PinePhone (1.2) Hardware Model, so comment below if you can reproduce the issue in older revisions or the pinephone pro.

PinePhone Keyboard on other phone/over USB |

I recently got a Fairphone 4 but I'd really like to use that keyboard.
Adapting the physical space for the phone shouldn't be hard, considering that I have a 3D printer. I have done similar work before.
Obviously, though, I wouldn't be able to use the original connector, and probably not even the original connection protocol, since I can only connect USB to the Fairphone.
Is it possible to connect the keyboard using USB? I've seen in some video, that (at least an older preproduction version of the keyboard) has an internal USB connector. Does this connector send HID? If not by default, would it be possible for me to modify the firmware to output HID over USB?

Hello.
I would like to know what tools, books I need to learn in order to start developing apps for the PinePhone Pro ?
as a background about my experties, I am:
- very good at Java. (regular desktop applications)
- very good at SQL (probably irrelevant)
- I am OK with Linux bash shell (no shell scripts though )
- very good with Operating Systems design concepts (theory only from university courses)
- no experience at all in user interface design (well I know Java swing at least)
I really appreciate detailed guidance and direct resources.
I prefer reading books over scavenging from badly written blogs and tutorials
thanks

Dead Pinebook - fix it or spare parts? |

After three years some letters of the keyboard stopped working. Unfortunately the official store doesn't sell the keyboard for old models anymore, so I bought one from another store. The new keyboard worked, but I must have done something wrong because now, after reassembling, it doesn't turn on anymore.
The power LED is on, the Caps-Lock LED turns on when the key is pressed, the LCD brightens but it remains black. I think it's not working, because it doesn't connect to my Wi-Fi nor it plays Android's chime after booting. Tried to boot from a SD, nothing changes. Tried also the HDMI output (both with stock Linux and SD Android) but the external monitor doesn't display anything.
So two questions:
1) Someone has an idea about what to check? I have a cheap oscilloscope somewhere, not very reliable but it works somehow. I have also a Saleae Logic Analyzer and various multimeters. I know that there is a UART in the phone jack, but I don't know how to interface it. I have many USB2Serial converters, tried to use one but it doesn't read anything.
2) If I fail to fix it (also because after some months the plastic became brittle and eventually broke in many parts, mostly around the hinges, and probably I was going to disassemble it anyway) what I can salvage? I mean, the battery is good for powering an Arduino (but how to recharge?). The LCD could be used on a Raspberry Pi, maybe? The mainboard can be used without keyboard?
