[Manjaro] u-boot won't boot from eMMC with (unbootable) SD card present |

I'm running ManjaroARM on my PBP. The OS is installed on the eMMC storage. I also have an SD card permanently installed for extra space. Both the eMMC and the SD card have DOS-format partition tables. The SD card is not bootable; the space reserved for a bootloader (in between the MBR and the partition) is zeroed. The SPI flash is blank.
This arrangement used to work fine, but ever since the most recent update to u-boot from Manjaro's official repositories, the laptop won't boot with the SD card present. This is a complete console log:
Code: U-Boot 2021.10-2 (Dec 25 2021 - 16:31:17 +0000) Manjaro Linux ARM

followed by a whole bunch of spew about also being unable to boot off the network (as expected) and a => prompt.
If the SD card is not present, everything is the same up till the "Hit any key to stop autoboot" prompt, after which I get
Code: Device 0: unknown device
Card did not respond to voltage select! : -110
switch to partition #0, OK
mmc0(part 0) is current device

and the machine boots normally.
So what this looks like to me is that u-boot is no longer falling back to booting from the internal eMMC if the SD card is unbootable. How can I persuade it to start doing that again? It's really annoying to have to pop the SD card out every time I start up the laptop and then put it back after it's booted.

While i'm trying to get to the bottom of the audio issues,
Since i turned it on for the first time, it "tics" or "clicks" when booting or occassionally throughout its operation..
Is this normal? It comes from the rear lower half of the phone...
Cheers

No call audio despite confirmed capability |

Hi Everyone.
I took delivery of my PinePhone (3GB/32GB) last week.
The installed Manjaro/KDE is great and yet I couldn' get any calls to complete/audio to be heard. I was using an EE sim and read that no-one has recorded any successes with them. I read on the wiki that calls were working with a "3" sim, so i got one and again no audio.
To clarify - The DIP switches are in the correct alignment (ive tried both positions to check this)
- With both sims, the calls connect to another mobile and this can call, wake up and alert the PinePhone. JUST NO AUDIO on connection.
- I have confirmed the mic and speaker work, by using the audio recorder to record my voice and YouTube videos play back.
- I have tried sending and receiving calls with a wired headset/headphones with no audio received/heard.
- I have installed in both SD card and eMMC: Manjaro with Phosh, Manjaro with KDE, Ubuntu Touch and Mobian.
As the same happens with every OS Distro, i'm tempted to say its not the sims. I "think" they should be working fine! And the Pinephone Wiki confirms they're working in several cases. This points me more towards a hardware problem. But then having confirmed the speaker and mic work, i'm stumped...
Any thoughts? Dud Pinephone or something else?

pbp replacement board |

I need a pbp replacement board. The store seems to be perpetually out of stock with no word on when they'll be available. Does anyone have one available shipping to the US?
I want to avoid wasting an entire pbp if possible. Hoping someone has a board to spare. If I can't get a pbp board, I'm willing to sell the rest of the pbp, minus emmc (and board since it's broken).
Please dm me or reply to the thread. Thanks!

Hibernate in Ubuntu |

Hi.
I'm using Ubuntu (ayufan image) on a Rock64. I tried hibernate and pm-utils but I can't get the computer to hibernate. It runs the scripts and seems to halt but the SSH session doesn't close. When I tried power-cycling, the system has rebooted.
Is it possible to get this working? The board has 2GB of RAM, I think. Maybe that is a lot to write to a micro SD card.

Dead accelerometer |

Hello,
It seems the accelerometer is dead on my PineTime. I have left my watch with an empty battery on my desk for 2-3 months. When I recharged it, the accelerometer gave 0 all the time and the step counter is also stuck to 0. I have noticed it with InfiniTime (v1.7.1 and v1.8.0). I have also tested with Wasp-OS with the same result. Otherwise the watch works very well.
Is there anybody who is experiencing the same failure? I believe there is not much I can do to fix it. Any help welcomed.
Antoine

Nextcloud folder (WebDAV) not showing up in Portfolio |

Hi everyone,
For a while now, I haven't been seeing the Nextcloud file system showing up in Portfolio when I connect a Nextcloud Online Account.
I seem to remember that it worked when I first received my Pinephone at the end of 2020 with the original Manjaro version that it came with from the factory, but I have performed fresh installs of newer Manjaro versions several times now.
"Files" and "Documents" are activated in the Online Account options.
Connected address books and calendars are working fine, so this does not seem to be a general problem with my Nextcloud account.
I see someone recently reported a problem with WebDAV here, but I'm not sure if it's related: https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?...=nextcloud
Is anyone else experiencing this?
Thanks!

Hi All
If this is the wrong place to post this , please correct me.
First time here and finally feel confident enough to consider using it daily.
Didn't take me more than a day or two to move away from the pre-installed Manjaro.
Simply not in the mood to learn another Linux flavour. And what is it with all the weird app names ? (maybe showing my age)
I have a fair amount of experience using Debian on Industrial machines for 10+ years,
so decided on Mobian bullseye initially and then re-imaged to bookworm in the last day or so.
1: To use a phone here in Australia on a daily basis, there are some requirements that may not exist elsewhere.
Where ever we go (during this covid crisis) we have to scan in using QR code.
Each state has it's own app, but of course only on iPhone or android.
Finally managed to get the .apk file for our local app and installed ANBOX, only to find out that the camera doesn't work (yet) on ANBOX.
Would love to hear if anyone has QR code scanning resolved.
2: After spending a day or so trying to get iphone contacts exported to the PP, I gave up and started typing them in.
I'm retired, so it was time to cull a few anyway.
3: The Hub that came with the PP works well on the usb (Mouse , memory sticks etc) but is flaky on the HDMI.
In Bookworm it is better then bullseye, but on some apps it will switch back to the PP.
Getting it to work at startup is the main problem. I have tried booting the PP with hdmi plugged in, also just hot plugging it.
In the end I hot plug it and wait, wait, wait and wait some more. Finally the monitor goes to back ground colour.
That is the sign to open an app and watch it disappear to the left of the monitor. Close the app and open it again, now it is in the middle of the monitor and is usable.
The best way I found to use it, was to select single monitor use only.
4: Wifi occasionally wont come on, so have to go to settings/wifi and just click the network and all is good again.
5: Some apps are not set to the screen size of the phone and you find that the "Next" or "Accept" button is not visible, because it is off the screen
and you can't slide the screen sideways to reveal the missing buttons.
6: The Portfolio app (I know it Mobian not PP problem) is only good enough to see what you got, you cant cut/paste/copy or delete.
Will have to find an app to replace that.
7: Deleting apps or icons from the screen must require you to hold your tongue just right, because I can't find where or how.
Conclusion:
I will use it as my daily phone IF I can get QR code to work.
Regards
