How long does it take to boot from SD card?
Posted by: Dinobot - 03-02-2022, 12:39 AM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Software - Replies (1)

Hi everyone! Just got my PPP today and have been tinkering with it. I've been having massive problems just trying to get the default experience to function in any capacity (currently, when I boot the phone, I enter my passcode and then I just get an unresponsive white screen)

So I figured I'd try flashing a different OS to the SD card and booting from that. So I flashed archlinux- archlinux-pinephone-pro-phosh-20220222.img

How long is it supposed to take? I booted the phone, it vibrated for a few seconds, went through a terminal-looking loading screen, and now I've been stuck at some kind of loading screen (A phone with a penguin on it with a swirling loading circle) for about 20 minutes now. Did I do something wrong or is this normal?

Question Update issues
Posted by: For_lack_of_a_better_name - 03-01-2022, 01:21 PM - Forum: General Discussion of PinePhone Pro - Replies (8)

I just got my phone yesterday, and I went to update it after setting it up, and every time I try to update it, it says the package daemon has crashed. What should I do?

Please help! Can't install Mobian to eMMC
Posted by: Barugon - 03-01-2022, 11:58 AM - Forum: General Discussion of PinePhone Pro - Replies (4)

I get the installation started and the message "Installation Failed" pops up when it tries to format/mount the storage. There's a close button and that's it. No other information is given. Anyone know what could be going on here?

PPP did make calls -- now will not
Posted by: tckosvic - 03-01-2022, 11:42 AM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Hardware - Replies (1)

I had manjaro-phosh beta 22 working well.  Phone, SMS, MMS (in and out) all working.  Did a pacman upgrade and phone, sms, mms stopped working.  If I make a call with dial app it says "call completed" an instant after the number is entered.

Next, I installed manjaro-phosh beta 23 and still nothing worked

Next, I installed manjaro plasma latest beta and still nothing worked

Next, I reinstalled manjaro-phosh beta 22 that was working very well and no still nothing worked.

I am suspecting a hardware (modem?) issue that occurred simultaneously with the upgrade.

I'm asking for some insight as to what to check for hardware related issues associated with phone, and messaging.  Is there some kind of deep reset for the modem?  I have no reason to suspect my sim card as this was working for a long time with phone and messaging.

Any ideas?    thanks,       tom kosvic

Not able to leave or switch apps
Posted by: bobjrsenior - 03-01-2022, 10:11 AM - Forum: General Discussion of PinePhone Pro - Replies (7)

This seems like a dumb question but I haven't figured out how to switch/exit apps or go back to the home screen after opening one. I'm using the default operating system and have applied updates with pacman.

Example:
1. Boot Phone
2. Login
3. Open Settings
4. I can't leave settings

I can lock my phone, restart, or shutdown but that doesn't resolve the issue. Am I missing something? I've tried various gestures and I don't have a back/home button at the bottom of the screen.

  Stuck in Angelfish
Posted by: steve2267 - 03-01-2022, 09:39 AM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Software - Replies (2)

Problem description:
----------------------------

In Angelfish browser.  After downloading latest Manjaro Plasma image (20220301) to SDcard, I am unable to exit the web browser and escape back to the main / home screen.  Nothing works -- swipe up from bottom, swipe down from top.  Swipe left / right from sides brings up web browser menus.

Any tricks I am missing here?

Background:
-----------------

New PPP owner -- received yesterday, bricked yesterday.

I suspect I did a hard / power reset yesterday while an update was running in the background.  In any event, the PPP would no longer boot.  Symptoms were a flash at the lower center of the main screen, and a white LED flash at the top left of the phone.  I observed a _very_ faint glow from the screen, so I knew it had power.

I managed to get it running this morning by flashing the 20220301 Manjaro Plasma image this morning onto a microSD card via my laptop running Ubuntu / KDE Plasma.  Hard power down on the PPP (power button depressed until screen faint glow turned off.)  Removed battery, inserted microSD card, re-inserted battery, then held down power button for a five count (one thousand one, one thousand two...)  The upper left LED blinked red, and the phone buzzed/vibrated.  Manjaro/Plasma booted.  So the eMMC bootloader was not corrupted, just the OS image on the eMMC.

Went through the intitial setup, then launched Angelfish to download Manjaro image so I could re-flash the eMMC.  Figure I'd like to have a bootable OS on the eMMC as a backup option to booting from a microSD -- so I plan on re-flashing the eMMC, but ran into this UI snafoo.  Thought I'd ask about it.

TIA

I would like to add/change a few things but I need a little bit help there.

https://xnux.eu/pinephone-keyboard/faq.html and the further link https://elixir.bootlin.com/linux/latest/...odes.h#L64 just throws a few more question marks in my head.

Can someone tell me a little more about this?

Hello,
I'm not super great at figuring these things out. But I'm trying to boot Dietpi on my rockpro64 board and all I get is a flashing white light. How can I fix this? I'm not really sure what to do. Detailed instructions would help a lot Big Grin thank you!
