  update kills keyboard
Posted by: ludgate - 05-14-2022, 11:03 AM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (1)

Keyboard was clipping along w/ the Manjaro Plasma 5.17.1-2-MANJARO-ARM that
came w/ the fon (plus a few upgrades) till a few days ago when a routine
upgrade took it down.  Unresponsive, and no kb151 showing up in dmesg. Doesn't
affect the fon.

Haven't found where kb151 is kept to save for manual install, what calls it or
when (doesn't show up in >cat /proc/cmdline), find doesn't find it, plocate
doesn't locate it, and the net is curiously mum but for two short references
on Megous.

I've flashed the ManjaroOS to an SD-card a few times and each time it boots
into a working keyboard.  Then an update will disable it.

From what I've gleaned online kb151 is a module that comes w/ the kernel, in
wh/ case it can't be activated if it's not there.

What's the fix?

  Suspend audio issue
Posted by: kmsgli - 05-13-2022, 08:23 PM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Software - Replies (4)

Has anyone figured out a way to fix the audio issue on resume with the pro?

I have been really wanting to switch from OG pinephone to my pro but without the ability to answer a call after suspend I cant do it.

Has anyone found a hack or way to make it work?

Looking for guidance on setting up with external RTC
Posted by: Ditchmagnet - 05-13-2022, 05:22 PM - Forum: Linux on Rock64 - No Replies

Hi,
I'm currently using a Raxda Rock Pi 4, running Ubuntu Server 20.04.  I'm using it with grabserial to automatically create logs from a serial port I need to record.

I need to setup a bunch more locations doing this, so I was looking at the ROCK64_v2.0 on amazon since its just $30 for a whole kit.

I will be needing RTC functionality though since the locations I will have to put these wont have network access and I don't want to have to go set the time manually in the event of a power outage.

I have been trying to do some research on adding RTC to the ROCK64 and found that it appears possible.

According to this-
https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?...4#pid44024

It looks like they are using Ubuntu 18.04 there which will hopefully still be compatible with the usb-to-serial cables I'll use.

I think the RTC module he is using is this one on amazon-
https://www.amazon.com/AT24C32-Replace-A...r=8-5&th=1

But I also saw this thread -
https://forum.armbian.com/topic/8856-sol...k64-board/
Saying that this part was compatible with Armbian-
https://www.amazon.com/Adafruit-3296-DS1...119&sr=8-3

Additionally, it appears that this particular module is more accurate, which is the SN model-
https://www.amazon.com/Adafruit-3296-DS1...C83&sr=8-3

SO! Does what I want to do sound feasible? It also sounds like I could run Ubuntu 20.04 according to this post-
https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?...3#pid65313

I'm not sure I'm up to the task of getting the RTC module to work, I haven't every compiled a kernel etc, so this would really be a learning experience, but I'm worried I might get stuck too.

Any suggestions or insights would be appreciated!

Question Troubleshooting incoming SMS/MMS
Posted by: epiii2 - 05-13-2022, 02:22 PM - Forum: Manjaro on PinePhone - Replies (5)

I have a new PinePhone 1.2b with the stock Manjaro + Plasma Mobile, and one of the first things I tried (after phone calls!) was text messaging in Spacebar.  It worked fine for sending a text, but a simple plaintext reply never showed up on the PinePhone.

I see some old threads and mentions elsewhere about troubleshooting this with ModemManger and mmcli, but ModemManager is mysteriously not running for me.  Have times changed and there's some other way I should be investigating this, or is it unexpected that ModemManger isn't running?  I've flailed around and tried to get it going (see below) but maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree.

Code:
# mmcli -L

Rainbow Waydroid on Pinephone Pro (solution for users)
Posted by: MadameMalady - 05-12-2022, 10:15 PM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Software - Replies (9)

This is my first post on these forums, and hopefully on that's useful to people:

I'm a independent developer for the PinePhone Pro (I received a dev model when they where available to order, and have

been working on stuff since receiving it).

I have made a script I dubbed Manjaro Waydroid Manager.

This program will automate installation of Waydroid on Manjaro arm on the Pinephone pro, including video acceleration, gapps / non gapps support, and more.

I hope people find this helpful if they're struggling with Waydroid on their Pros

  PPP no longer boots
Posted by: Chief - 05-12-2022, 08:38 PM - Forum: General Discussion of PinePhone Pro - Replies (5)

I consider my PPP officially dead. Like in Star Trek .. Kirk: "Bones how is he?"  Bones: "He's dead Jim".
I have had the device lock up before but this time regardless of methods it fails to boot whether from SD or eMMc.
This occurred when I was doing a major update on Manjaro Phosh and as we all know we must keep the device awake.
Oops .. forgot to touch the screen and that was it. It did reboot and I get the "Oops" screen and thats the end of it.
So I tried flashing Arch Linux to it and the flash went fine, shut down removed SD card and that was the end . It's possible it
has something to do with requirement for tow-boot which I have flashed to an SD card but device fails to start regardless.
Not exactly a "flagship" eh guys?
Confused

  No Firefox?
Posted by: MarsColonist - 05-12-2022, 05:11 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (3)

I was surprised to see the Linux OS this comes with doesn't have Firefox installed already.  Did I just not notice it in the list of apps? Is it a problem that it doesn't work well on mobile Linux? Is there something else I should be using instead then?

  "Repository" for Safe Software/Apps?
Posted by: MarsColonist - 05-12-2022, 05:09 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (2)

Hi first time Linux user here.  I'm aware Linux operating systems usually have something called a "repository" that provides a safe way to get a wide variety of popular software for your Linux device.  So on Linux Mint for example, I think it's called "software manager."

Just booted up my PinePhone... I'm wondering if there is something similar here to get me started that I'm not seeing.

  Fix keyboard layout
Posted by: robocone - 05-12-2022, 09:42 AM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Software - Replies (1)

I am using Manjaro plasma and I'm having some trouble getting the keyboard layout to work with the characters under the number row.

I have tried the suggestion on https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=16507 (Step 8) as well as reading the doc at https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/X_keyboard_extension

When I create the layout and try to load it I get

Code:
# setxbmap -layout ppkb
WARNING: Running setxkbmap against an XWayland server

and they changes don't seem to work. Even if I for example override a number key with a different number.

Has anyone had any success in fixing this?
