Hi all,
I'm facing two kind of problem trying to create a Xen guest domain on pine64.
I have successfully built uboot, xen (4.14.4) and dom0 linux kernel with xen tool stack, these two last starting from buildroot (with linux kernel version 5.15.33 and xen toolstack version 4.14.4)
These are the process of Xen:
177 root /usr/sbin/xenwatchdogd 30 15
203 root /usr/sbin/xenstored --pid-file /var/run/xen/xenstored.pid
208 root /usr/sbin/xenconsoled --pid-file=/var/run/xen/xenconsoled.pid
214 root /usr/lib/xen/bin/qemu-system-i386 -xen-domid 0 -xen-attach -name dom0 -nographic -M xenpv -daemonize -monitor /dev/null -serial/dev/nul -parallel/dev/null -pidfile/var/run/xen/qemu-dom0.pid
and the driver loaded as a module:
# lsmod
Module Size Used by Tainted: G
xen_netback 65536 0
xen_blkback 49152 0
Xen and dom0 Image boot up successfully, at the end:
================================================
>xl list
Name ID Mem VCPUs State Time(s)
Domain-0 0 1024 2 r----- 4000.3
# uname -a
Linux rockpro64 5.15.33 #3 SMP PREEMPT Fri Apr 15 11:01:37 CEST 2022 aarch64 GNU/Linux
================================================
when I try to create a domU domain I have problem with disk backend, I have made several attempts trying with different domU linux and I always get the following error :
================================================
Parsing config from ./alpine_xen_domu.config
libxl: error: libxl_aoutils.c:539:async_exec_timeout: killing execution of /etc/xen/scripts/block add because of timeout
libxl: error: libxl_create.c:1608:domcreate_launch_dm: Domain 2:unable to add disk devices
libxl: error: libxl_aoutils.c:539:async_exec_timeout: killing execution of /etc/xen/scripts/block remove because of timeout
libxl: error: libxl_domain.c:1182:libxl__destroy_domid: Domain 2:Non-existant domain
libxl: error: libxl_domain.c:1136:domain_destroy_callback: Domain 2:Unable to destroy guest
libxl: error: libxl_domain.c:1063:domain_destroy_cb: Domain 2 estruction of domain failed
================================================
The last try was with alpine domU linux with the following config:
================================================
# Alpine Linux PV DomU
# Kernel paths for install
kernel = "/home/xen/vmlinuz-virt"
ramdisk = "/home/xen/initramfs-virt"
extra="modules=loop,squashfs console=hvc0"
# Path to HDD and iso file
disk = [ 'format=raw, vdev=xvda, access=w, target=/data/a1.img',
'format=raw, vdev=xvdc, access=r, devtype=cdrom, target=/home/xen/alpine-virt-3.15.3-armv7.iso' ]
# Network configuration
vif = ['bridge=br0']
# DomU settings
memory = 512
name = "alpine-a1"
vcpus = 1
maxvcpus = 1
================================================
thanks a lot in advance
Best regards
Marco

PP gets hot when speaker is active, with headset not |

Hello,
when I listen to music over the speaker, the phone gets hot and the battery drains rapidly. If I plug in my headset, it cools down and the battery stops draining that quickly.
So listening to music is hardly possible without head set now.
Lately, I hear some quiet buzzing sounds, while charging, but not always and they're not regularly. Since that started, the speaker also oversteers/overdrives a bit (not just while charging, always, like it's broken).
As I said, this only started lately. Everything was fine, a week or so ago.
Might that be hardware related or do you have any clue what I could do about this?
Phone Info:
Mobian CE Edition
Debian 11.3
GNOME 3.85.5
Thank you in advance

Best device image for docker usage? |

What is currently the best image for docker support?
I've tried so far:
- Armbian (focal) I couldn't install docker-ce (was not found)
- Debian 11 won't boot (still trying to figure out why keyboard and mouse come on no screen output)
This isn't for development the device will be installed into a location and not be monitored.

Terrible phone audio |

I have awful phone audio in both directions. It's true on Arch Phosh and was true on Manjaro Plasma. Could it be Mint? I'm thinking of changing to Verizon, which has better reception in my area. The Verizon sales person gave me a neutered SIM and it showed a connection to the local Verizon network. I do have decent music through Firefox, btw, so it's not an audio failure in general. I have set Mint to ultra/wholesale for both os's.

Mobian virtual keyboard suddenly buggy |

I was surprised to find that there's an update for Mobian on April 13 with 73 items. (I did not want to get the 23 that's held back) I upgraded and uname -a still has me at the version 5.10 which is where I want to stay.
My concern though, and not sure it's related or not, is that my virtual keyboard in the vertical orientation has some keys that wouldn't type properly. like the I would type out to be u, and I can only get it to type "ui" and then delete the u to get an I, and that isn't too constant. (my broken keys in the vertical orientation is I, k, and m.)
Anyone else having similar problems? Can I reset the squeekboard somehow? Rebooting doesn't seem to help. Those letters though works fine in the horizontal position, but of course, it's hard to type when one can't see the rest of the phone screen.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Invalid checksum/signature on installation |

Hi,
I've a problem installing packages on my pinephone pro, pacman is constantly complaining about invalid signatures. At first I thought this is the keyring problem easily fixable with pacman-key --init && pacman-key --populate but that wasn't it. Then I tried reflashing to latest manjaro image but that didn't help either. Then it hit me to just try checking the checksum myself and well...

The file didn't change between the commands (at least not by me anyway), yet the computed checksum is different almost every time. Funny thing is, the phone works just fine otherwise.
It doesn't matter whenever the system is booted from eMMC or SD card, the file can also be in /tmp, won't matter either
Anyone else experienced similar issues? Not sure if this is a hardware bug or perhaps broken kernel or something

archplasma: phone et discover broken? |

Having arch phosh on emmc of my pinephone, I want to use arch plasma which I installed on an SD card.
but 3 problems remain
1 instability of the modem and the gsm connection
2 the phonedialer interface starts and then disappears
3 the dicover interface starts and then disappears
using journalctl, I discovered many errors related to kf.kirigami and plasmaphonedialer and finally a systemd-coredump
I left/20220222/archlinux-pinephone-plasma-20220222.img.xz and made all updates by pacman.
