  gpsd issues
Posted by: io. - 02-03-2022, 02:00 PM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - Replies (5)

Hi everyone,

I am trying for a while now to get gps running. I went through the wiki page (https://wiki.mobian-project.org/doku.php?id=location), multiple times (also with at least one clean install of mobian) but run into some issues - I cannot find this mentioned anywhere.

What I did: I follow the steps and did manage to get some meaningful output from

Code:
mmcli -m 0 --location-enable-gps-nmea

(with the right modem number)

But the moment I move on to setup gpsd, I get no signal at all. I started gpsd, then run

Code:
gpspipe --nmea

The first time, the inital output looks normal, it recognizes ttyUSB1 and waits for a signal. A signal never comes, even leaving it for 8 hours at a window. No output at all. When I checked dmesg, I find this:

Code:
[17010.473495] usb 2-1: USB disconnect, device number 2
[17010.482390] option1 ttyUSB0: GSM modem (1-port) converter now disconnected from ttyUSB0

[17010.525462] option1 ttyUSB2: GSM modem (1-port) converter now disconnected from ttyUSB2
[17010.533818] option 2-1:1.2: device disconnected
[17010.547007] option1 ttyUSB3: GSM modem (1-port) converter now disconnected from ttyUSB3
[17010.555419] option 2-1:1.3: device disconnected
[17010.581592] qmi_wwan 2-1:1.4 wwan0: unregister 'qmi_wwan' usb-1c1b000.usb-1, WWAN/QMI devic
[17010.913371] usb 2-1: new high-speed USB device number 3 using ehci-platform
[17011.089623] usb 2-1: New USB device found, idVendor=2c7c, idProduct=0125, bcdDevice= 3.18
[17011.097896] usb 2-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0
[17011.105096] usb 2-1: Product: EG25-G
[17011.108780] usb 2-1: Manufacturer: Quectel
[17011.121451] option 2-1:1.0: GSM modem (1-port) converter detected
[17011.132864] usb 2-1: GSM modem (1-port) converter now attached to ttyUSB0
[17011.144117] option 2-1:1.1: GSM modem (1-port) converter detected
[17011.154905] usb 2-1: GSM modem (1-port) converter now attached to ttyUSB2
[17011.170701] option 2-1:1.2: GSM modem (1-port) converter detected
[17011.182066] usb 2-1: GSM modem (1-port) converter now attached to ttyUSB3
[17011.194272] option 2-1:1.3: GSM modem (1-port) converter detected
[17011.206092] usb 2-1: GSM modem (1-port) converter now attached to ttyUSB4

So the modem disconnects and reconnects, but it loses ttyUSB1 and I assume moves it to ttyUSB2. /dev/ttyUSB1 does not exist anymore and gpsd is listening to nothing, as /etc/default/gpsd is sets devices to ttyUSB1. At least that's what I think the problem is.

I did not find anything on the forum or wiki about this so far, anyone has an idea?

Thanks!

Cannot wake the phone after "systemctl suspend" on PPP
Posted by: liberty1234 - 02-03-2022, 01:13 PM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Software - Replies (8)

I am running DanctNIX (Arch Linux ARM) with kernel 5.16.4  on PinePhone Pro. I noticed that the phone cannot suspend. The "systemctl suspend" can put the phone to sleep but I cannot wake the phone.
Manjaro ARM did the same with 5.16.2 kernel. Does the suspend ever work on any releases / kernel? Thanks!

Arch linux phosh - no cellular with T-Mobile sim
Posted by: Conjada - 02-03-2022, 11:53 AM - Forum: General Discussion of PinePhone Pro - Replies (14)

I’ve been playing around with Archlinux phosh without a sim card. Today, i decided to put my T-mobile sim card into the phone. But, it never recognized it. Cellular symbol on screen has a ? mark in it.

Anyone have any thoughts? Do i need to use a fresh sd card and boot it with the sim card in place? Something else?

Thanks for any help with this.

Exclamation Wireless charger (QI) not working on PinePhone Pro
Posted by: zeroskyx - 02-03-2022, 03:23 AM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Accessories - Replies (6)

Greetings,

I'm having a problem getting the wireless charging case (https://pine64.com/product/pinephone-pin...d-on-case/) to work with the new PinePhone Pro (Explorer Edition).

When placed on a charger, the phone does not charge (or indicate), and one of my QI charger's LEDs flashes, indicating a problem.

Notes:
- I've bought two separate charging cases and both result in the same problem
- I've tried on three different QI charging pads from different manufacturers, all result in the same problem
- The charging cases work flawlessly on two PinePhones (non-Pro version) on all those chargers

It's a brand new PinePhone Pro with the original software -- is there anything I forgot to follow or have to to in order to get it to work?

Thanks so much in advance, keep up the great work and best regards
-Simon

**  I Do like my new keyboard,

'IT'  is what inspired my to ask :  What about a screen with digital keyboards ?

Imagine the possibilities : ---> an instant game pad,  any keyboard could be shown on the screen.

** no sticky keys **

      Maybe  Someday  ?

On Arch phosh, I installed arch-audit-gtk without then with the gnome-shell-extension-appindicator option, but in both cases, I don’t have a permanent notification of the status: risk or not; this allows to know when to make a security update without waiting. Is that possible or not? Is there another opportunity on Phosh to be notified of security issues?

Updating/ upgrading PPP Explorer with KDE Plasma
Posted by: Pinoideae - 02-02-2022, 10:46 PM - Forum: General Discussion of PinePhone Pro - Replies (5)

Anyone had any success updating/ upgrading PPP Explorer with KDE Plasma?

There's a thread on updating/ upgrading, but it's focused on Manjaro. I'm on Explorer with KDE Plasma and trying to install software, but it seems I need to perform an update. It's not working in Discover, so I want to do it via terminal, but I don't want to brick the phone.

I gather I need to run:
sudo pinephonepro-post-install

Then what?
