| Discover - "He's dead, Jim" |

Hello,
I reactivated my Pinephone KDE CE with Manjaro/Plasma Mobile after quite a time. I ran a huge set of updates which caused only problems. I decided not to deal with them.
I flashed the latest available version of the OS and everything worked fine. While Discover said, that the system is up to date, pacman reported quite a bunch of updates. Since pacman is native to Manjaro, I run the updates.
Since then, whenever I try to run Discover, it always quits after a short time of loading with the message "He's dead Jim".
What could I do about this?
I can see some information in this crash info tool, but you can only read half of it, since it's outside the viewable area and it can't be brought into sight (neither drag/swipe nor screen rotation possible)

Hi guys,
I'm a newbie to Pine64 but have been following with keen interest for several years and have a query regarding the Pine64 single-board computers.
I am exploring the applications of my Raspberry Pi for some time and want to buy another but would prefer to support this community - so, do the single-board computers work the same as a Pi? Would I be able to flash all the same operating systems as a Pi with for example the Raspberry Pi imager?
Kind regards.

I received my ppp a week ago and dived into it immediately. One feature I really want to try is the desktop experience as advertised.
I tested the Apple USB-C to HDMI adaptor I had (A1708), it only worked once (Mobian, without power input, attached hdmi cable, no usb device, must plug in before power on ppp). The apple adaptor usually works with all devices I had, PCs, Macs, iPad, android phone...just not PPP
I also tested on my Lenovo docking station, thunderbolt, of course not working.
So, I went out and bought two docks available in small stores (I have no idea how to call them, dock or hub. They all printed "hub" on the cover, but with power input, I just call them docks), these are the results:
1. Belkin usb-c multimedia hub, 60w passthrough, F4U092, ~ 86USD: hdmi worked out of the box with Mobian, PmOS, Kali, Arch. I used 15w/18w iPad power adaptor, I found no problem with hot plugging. Just switch the display scale to 100% before hot-plugging it should work very fast with no problem. usb 3.0 ports worked, the ethernet port did not work.
2. Apple A1708 & Lenovo docking station: not working, none of the ports were working
3. MoMax Onelink 8-in-1 usb-c hub, 60w passthrough, ~43USD: usb 3.0 worked. hdmi had issues with flickering screen with/without power input, all OS were the same.
I tested this dock on my ipad, mac, worked with no issue.
I think brand (chip quality?) matters. Should have just used Belkin...

Hi everybody,
i have 2 RockPro64 and both behave strange.
I have a hdmi cable, keyboard and a ethernet cable connected.
The first rockpro64 i was trying to uses crashes a few secounds after the uboot screen. I tried Armbian and Debian and pretty much same behaviour.
After a few hours of trying the first board i was desperate and wondered if the board is simple broken and tryed the secound board i bought...
and it actually immediatly worked! I could boot the armbian version i previously was unable to boot with the first board! I created a user and logged in from remote via ssh. But now i see i cant use 'shutdown now' and then press the boot button or reset button. I need to reconnect the power for the board to reboot.
So i have 2 questions.
1. How can i fix the first board? It starts with the uboot screen boots linux but after a few secounds crashes. The screen goes idle and the power led is the only led on the board left on. (even the ethernet led is turned off)
2. What are the reset and boot buttons good for?

I recently purchased a Pinecil from a German reseller since I am convinced that it is a good product and I was not disappointed when I got it. A great soldering iron which suits my needs perfectly.
However I wonder about two things:
At https://pine64.com/product/pinecil-smart...ring-iron/ the Pinecil V2 is offered for a retail price of $35.99 - but there it is out of stock.
However at https://eleshop.de/pinecil-smart-mini-tr...olben.html which is one of the "official" resellers, the same product is 52.07 EUR plus shipping which is more than 70% more expensive (currently this would be around $61.77).
When combining this with the "offical" power supply "PinePower - 65W GaN 2C1A Charger", the Pinecil USB cable with silicon sleeve and the "Portable Mini Stand" the total price will be more than 100 EUR since nearly every item is at least 70-80% more expensive in Europe. The "Mini Stand" is sold for about $5.27 in Europe compared to the original price of $1.99 in the Pint Store which is more than twice(!) the price.
I also looked for other sources, but original Pinecil V2 and not fake ones, are not available for less then about $60-$70.
Why this huge price gap?
Another thing about getting tips:
The tip which comes with the Pinecil is not very useful for many soldering tasks. Due to its pointed shape it will not transfer heat very well. Wedge shaped tips like D24 are usually much better suited since you can either use the wide side to transfer a lot of heat if needed or the smaller side to do fine soldering tasks. So I also got a pack of short "gross" tips which includes the D24 tip. As an initial accessory collection this is ok since the other tips in the package are also useful.
However when I ever need to replace a single tip I would have to be a complete new pack of four - which makes no sense of course. Why are the tips not available individually? I'd like to have at least one D24 as spare part but I also don't want to use TS100 tips which are available individually but also longer and with less power.

So, based on Luke's December update, especially the update to the update that said ...
"[edit] Since the publication there have been further developments on the SailfishOS port. SailfishOS and ofono now work much better form suspend, and could be used as a reliable phone. Both call and sms are handled from deep sleep with work done over the last week. Check out Adam’s post on Twitter."
... I was very anxious to try Sailfish, so I followed all the links and found that the Sailfish website said that it was listed on the Pine wiki as "Nemo", so I got it, tried it, and it looks like Sailfish. However, it does not wake from deep sleep on calls or texts, and none of the sensors work.
At this point I'm assuming I got the wrong thing ... can somebody point me to the right thing please?
