Hi all,
My main goal for the Pine64 is to run it as simple samba server (Gigabit ethernet, yay).
I'm currently using a Raspberry Pi B+, but 100M is just terrible.
Do you think it's worth the upgrade?
Has anyone done this?
I would like to know abou t stability, speed and ease of setup.
Cheers.

Benchmarks - Let's share our benchmark results? |

Hello,
I think it would be interesting to see people's results as some of us might be running it with a slow microSD or low power supply and don't know that it could run faster.
Personal experience: I tried two microSD and both were quite slow, after I bought a Samsung Evo+ it's running much faster, still not as fast I expected it to be. It's slower than my Sony Z3 Compact Phone - maybe I need a better power supply. I used Antutu Benchmark to test my Pine64.
Model: Pine64 1GB
OS: Remix OS (20160415)
Cooler: No
microSD: Samsung 32GB EVO Plus (MB-MC32DA)
Power: Asus PSM06K-050Q (5.2v 1.35A)
Antutu Score: 22413

Dallas 1-Wire Support |

Hello -
After several hours wasted trying to get the board to boot up (don't use unetbootin!) I finally managed to get Ubuntu installed
on the Pine 64 2Gb. I am trying to get it to read a Dallas 1-wire sensor from the GPIO Headers (Using pin 4).
I've installed the ported GPIO library for the Pi which doesn't seem to be able to read the device.
Has anyone managed to read data from the Dallas 1-Wire interface yet?
Also I read somewhere that the Pine64 supports analog connections - what pins support analog sensors?

Cheap Cable Example again |

Just to give you a good visual. Ordered some new DuPont jumpers the other day so I can stop using microusb to hook power to my pine. The new cables are fairly light would guess 28awg or higher. So I decided I would run 2 pair to halve the resistance.
http://imgur.com/a/9u2ze
Shows the progression. First pic, one pair, second pic one pair plus an additional ground, last pic an additional V+.
Just keep in mind I am pushing 5.2V in which is "beyond the design recommendation" but look at the output on usb from the pine..

Remote access to Mate desktop using VNC |

Hi,
So I am trying to do the above and got everything working using X11vnx. I get all the way to the point that the remote VNC viewer can view the Mate login screen. This is when the problems occur. I input the correct credentials and then the VNC session dies. Below is a link to someone else who had a similar problem.
http://askubuntu.com/questions/288647/vn...alid-login
Now before I go and start trying to monkey with the system as described here (http://superuser.com/questions/524811/ho...spberry-pi), I want to see if anyone else has seen this and has a simple solution. My four Raspberry Pis just work with VNC and so I am straying far from my comfort zone and general knowledge on this one.
I would love to know if anyone has addressed this situation successfully, and if so, how they did it. If not, I will cross my fingers and try out the solution listed above although I am afraid that it might break other things....
Thank you!

how to run netflix on a pine64? |

my main reason to buy a pine64 was to run netflix (and some other streaming services which have android clients) using a cable based ethernet connection.
according to the pine64 faq, netflix works fine on the pine64.
so now i got my pine64 (2GB version), and i'm not even able to use the wired ethernet (lan connection not seen). also wifi does not work (using an usb dongle).
i.e. i'm not even able to connect to google play when running android.
so i really wonder what i have to do to get netflix working on this device!?!?!?
any suggestion?

power button - tactile button make and model number |

My friend and I bought into the kickstarter, he received his first. He warned me that the power button was loose inside the box and to look for it when unboxing. It wasn't in the box or the package or anywhere, I was extremely careful in opening it to make sure it wouldn't fall out. I'm not upset or anything about it. I just want to know the manufacturer and model number of the tactile button itself so I can order 2 (power and reset) as I like the side action design (my pine is now in an enclosure that makes top-down operation impossible with other buttons). I have spend a couple hours google searching for spec sheets and such that might have this information to no avail.
tl;dr Need to know the make and model of the power/reset tactile buttons so I can order them on Amazon or somewhere.
Thanks for reading!

Installing Pine A64 into a truck |

I am planning on installing my Pine A64 into the dash of my 2009 Ford F150 as I figure that Ford offers a dash piece that can accomodate a 7" screen. I'm hoping to hook up to the trucks internal computer as well and see what kind of features I can see (current speed, kms tracked each day, stops made, engine temp, error codes). As well i'm hoping to put two small screens installed in the backseat for my kids as we travel alot and being able to control their monitors from the dash would be handy. I am completely new to this kind of thing and any suggestions or ideas would be a super big help.

Cannot install Plex Media Server under Arch Linux |

Hi there,
I'm trying to install plex-media-server from AUR and it seems I can't. I must say I have it installed on a bananapi pro and it works just fine but it cannot transcode some videos, so I bought PINEA64 to see if it would improve.
But it doesn't compile...
First thing you must do is remove the prelink dependency because it seems brokem on arm, like I did on the bananapi, but then appears that error
Code: ==> ERROR: plex-media-server is not available for the 'aarch64' architecture.
So it seems plex provides packages for "arm" and "armv7h", but not aarch64.
Anyone has tried to make it work under PINEA64?
